HIMMNS Leviathan

Due to its position as an island nation, Pydrinck has always maintained an extensive merchant fleet as a matter of necessity. However, due to the rising risk of piracy in the Intermarium as well as the looming threat of war, a new class of merchant vessels was designed from the ground up for use by the Mercantile Navy. With both an extensive cargo hold and considerable space for passengers aboard, the Leviathan-class serve as a hybrid of freighter and liner in peacetime, and in war make for capable supply transports and troop ships. The latter is in part responsible for its complement of numerous life boats, with the light rowing boats used in lieu of more dedicated landing craft; the expectation being that Pydrinck's naval superiority should be entrusted to carry such battles, not the equipment of the troops themselves. Whilst its armament is relatively light, it is enough to ward off piracy and serve as protection against commerce raiders, saving considerable expensive in large escorts forces for merchant convoys. Whether such faith is misplaced is yet to be seen.
