Banjo And Kazooie - Spiral Mountain

In 1 collection by The GOODMAN
The GOODMAN's Fictional Civilization Mods
10 items
Description
"GUH-HUH!"

A mod that adds the video game duo Banjo and Kazooie as the leaders of Spiral Mountain in Civilization V. They now explore a brave new world where there may be no notes or jiggies to collect, but there is plenty of other stuff to do.

UNIQUE ABILITY
Jiggy Quests
Receive Gold for discovering Natural Wonders and expending Great People, and double Gold from Barbarian Camps and pillaging Cities. Traversing non-friendly City-State territory does not make them angry.

UNIQUE BUILDING
Mumbo's Skull
Replaces the Barracks. +15 XP for all Units. Grants additional Science and Faith as well as unique promotions when constructing Military units of certain unit types. The promotions are listed below.

Mumbo's Termite Spell: Awarded to Mounted units. Ignores Terrain Cost during Movement.
Mumbo's Pumpkin Spell: Awarded to pre-Gunpowder Melee units. Grants additional Defense from Ranged Attacks.
Mumbo's Van Spell: Awarded to Siege units. +1 additional Movement.
Mumbo's Detonator Spell: Awarded to Archers. Grants +20% Combat Strength against Fortified Units and Cities.
Mumbo's Walrus Spell: Awarded to Melee Naval Units and Submarines. Heal 20 Damage if the unit they attack is killed.
Mumbo's Bee Spell: Awarded to Bombers and Fighters. +2 additional Range.

UNIQUE UNIT
Jinjo
Ranged Combat Strength: 100
Range: 8
Production Cost: 150
Replaces the Guided Missile. Is available earlier at Ballistics instead of Advanced Ballistics and has an increased Ranged Strength of 100 (instead of 60).

Includes Mod Support For:
Future Worlds by bouncymischa
Civ IV Leader Traits in Civ V by The Wes
Civilization IV Diplomatic Features by Putmalk

Peace Theme - Spiral Mountain (Banjo-Kazooie)
War Theme - Vs. Klungo (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

If you like this mod, you may also enjoy the following two mods: Gruntilda's Lair led by Gruntilda and Banjo-Kazooie Advisors.

I highly recommend to have all Civ 5 DLC (including the Gods and Kings and Brave New World expansions) before playing this mod, as it may not work otherwise.

@SledHeadCentral I have just quickly tested those three mods together and they all show up on the civ/leader select screen as normal for me. I'm afraid I'm going to need more information to better understand what exactly is causing the bug. Have you activated any additional mods in addition to those three (whether they are workshop items or mods that have been downloaded from outside the workshop) when attempting to play? And are you attempting to play with any add-on that alters the game's graphics/mechanics such as the Enhanced User Interface or Vox Populi? If so, it's possible there may be a conflict between the Banjo/Pac-Man mods and something else you have currently activated/installed.

I have subscribed to This workshop mod and the Pacland and Gruntilda one. The Gruntilda one works but this one and the Pacman one unfortunately are not showing up. I own all of the :steamthumbsup:DLC for Civ 5 but can't get them to work. Any Suggestions?

@Northern Grace Thanks for enjoying this mod and the Gruntilda one (I made that mod too some time ago). There are still Banjo Kazooie fans around, it's just that the series has nothing going for it recently outside of Smash and the games coming to Switch Online.

I plan on creating a collection soon with all the mods I've created within the next couple of weeks once I've completed another mod.

@campbellmc14 I have honestly gotten increasingly sick of writing all the diplomacy text for these mods (for as much fun it can be). I have just finished up with the Atlas Earth mod last week and working on another mod, and it can be very time consuming to come up with unique text for everything. So I sometimes stick to keeping certain texts close to the default ones if possible. This mod in particular took longer due to the format of having two characters.

I do appreciate your feedback though. I did consider the Breegull Blaster (Bird handler) as an alternative UU when planning out this mod but stuck with the Jinjos.

Could you make it easier to find all your mods either by seeing your mod creations on your account page or if you make your own collection?

SUPER CUTE!!!!
I am so happy there are other Banjo and Kazooie fans still around!

I have played the gruntilda mod for quite some time and I'm so glad to see the main bear and bird appearance =)

Thank you so much for this mod. It's great the way it is.

It would be really cool if this civ had abilities like the Princess daisy mod where you can choose which production each city focuses on since Banjo-Kazooie is all about worlds, where you could have all the levels or just the main ones even as city options that have different focuses. But that's just my wishful thinking, like I said this mod is perfect the way it is <3

Looking through the dialogue files, most of it's good though I do have some suggestions.
Some of the dialogue's a bit too formal. This could be justified as Banjo trying to take his job seriously, though I'd have Kazooie mock him for this.

Similarly, if they embraced an ideology I'd probably go with them expressing sentiment that gives off the ideology's vibe as opposed to quoting party slogans too much. For example:
• With Order, I'd portray it as a sort of jaded cynicism towards the rich.
• With Autocracy, I'd probably go with embracing their more...anti-heroic qualities, to the point where they're just kind of dicks. So if they see you becoming autocrats they'll say "Ha, glad to see another leader who's willing to get their hands dirty".
• With Freedom, I'd be emphasizing that they're, well, good guys.

I've never subscribed to anything so quickly. As a suggestion however, I'd be tempted to suggest as a unique unit a Bird Handler, something like a musketman that can paradrop. Just an idea though, the Jinjo UU is pretty good.
