Description
His Majesty's Line Ship Constellation is one of my personal favorites in the Avem Empire's airfleet. A battlecruiser, Constellation features three twin CRAM turrets mounted on a unique bearing system which lets them come to bear on targets on either broadside, at any altitude, and directly below. You can choose between broadsiding and direct attack runs, where it will fire once on each pass and also on each turn.

Constellation also mounts a 100mm CIWS just ahead of the first CRAM turret, a twin chase gun behind the ram, and two 200mm flak guns, one on either side of the superstructure. Some miscellaneous simple weapons round out her armament, and the battlecruiser comes stock with two spotter planes.

It's a surprisingly powerful ship, especially if you can keep the opponents focused on other targets so she can lay into them with massive CRAM salvos uninterrupted. At 467k materials, its not a bad deal for the immense firepower she can bring to a fight.

The answer to the animation question is a lot of pain and a little math. The pair of gears on the back of the turrets are just turned via spinblocks at a speed so that their teeth mesh. I think it's 6x the speed of the turrets themselves, which is found via breadboard. The bearings are more complex, and they're done via big blocks of mimics which are turned on spinblocks at half the turret's speed and animated via breadboard. I'm not sure I ever want to do it again, but the result couldn't have been better!

Love the design of this build! How'd you get the gears and bearings to move in sync with the hull guns like that? It's really impressive and gives the build a lot of life.
