About This Mod
This brings the randomization fun of Amalgamation to Hero classes! This replaces the Hero classes (Skirmisher, Reaper, Templar) with Low Randomization specs.

Each Hero class has locked in Squaddie perks, locked in Captain perks, and smartly randomizes the other perks.

Weapon Rebalance Changes
This mod makes a few changes to Shard Gauntlets to keep Caster Gauntlets from just being superior at Beam tier.
  • Caster Gauntlets grant Meditation, Shard Gauntlets grant Parry.
  • BM tier Caster Gauntlets only grant +1 pip of max focus.
  • Stat bonuses from gained Focus are capped at the fourth tier of stat bonues. This means the fifth pip of Focus from the Caster Gauntlets is purely for using abilities.
  • Damage bonuses for skills are consistent: The Caster Gauntlets deal -2 direct damage, but all skills will deal +1 bonus damage over traditional Shard Gauntlets.
  • Caster Gauntlets can now equip +1 Psionics Ex Machina gem when using PExM.

These changes are done to help make the choice more interesting between a melee Templar and a caster Templar.

Required Mods

Thanks
  • MrCloista for the design of this mod
  • h4ilst0rm and Tepa for Amalgamation

Try adding a "bAllowAWCAbilities = false" to XComClassData.ini, below each class' config header. (and without the actual quotes)

Note that this will need a console rebuild (RebuildSelectedSoldiersClass) or a fresh soldier to apply.

Hello thanks for the awesome mod! Since Amalgamation soldiers don't get a fourth row of abilities by default, is there a simple way to also disable the fourth row for these new hero classes? I love that they are already more powerful than the original hero classes and just want to keep my playthrough from getting too OP.

I've noticed on my latest campaign with this mod, that the 'improvised silencer' base perk for Reapers doesn't seem to be working. The UI shows the 0% to reveal on the reaper's first shot; but it ends up rolling vs 50% every time. I have only one reaper so far, maybe I will try that console command that resets amalg trees (even though that will possibly lose me some of the perks I have, that I like...)

Forward Operator nerf make me cry. But I get it, it was super broken. I was able to tag every crate on a supply raid mission in one round because of lost pods activating lol.

Thanks for pointing me into that direction, seems to be the cause.

This mod does not touch the spawn rates of Hero soldiers and should not conflict with Gender Bias at all. If you added Multiple Faction Soldier Classes (which this mod does not require) that could be affecting your spawn rates.

I've noticed an unexpected interaction/ Amalgamation Hero Classes seem to be ignored by Gender Bias - WotC mod. That mod worked fine with all Proficiency classes but after switching to Amalgamation I noticed that Hero Faction Soldiers seem to have the vanilla ratios.
Any idea on how to fix this?

It is only config changes, so should be able to just do it all via AML/notepad. Basically, you will want to do

[Reaper X2SoldierClassTemplate]
!SoldierRanks=()

and then manually redefine the SoldierRanks array for the class.

nuke and recreate via the mod tool or is it a simple notepad jobby? appreciate the positive can-do faith in me though!

You will have to nuke and recreate the class data yourself to do that. Totally doable as both are just perks assigned to the class but an effort you will have to undertake manually.
