In 1991, a major event was taking place in Sacramento, California. It was known as Railfair 91 or Sacramento Railfair 91. An event that took place at the California State Railroad Museum to celebrate the museum’s 10th anniversary. Big Steam locomotives came to Railfair 91 including Union Pacific’s “Living Legend” No. 844 and Challenger No. 3985. Both locomotives double headed all the way from Cheyenne to participate in Railfair 91. One of the journey’s the two locomotives took to get to Sacramento was going through Ex-Western Pacific’s Feather River Canyon. On April 27th, the doubleheader started its departure from Portola and made its way to Oroville, and then eventually to Sacramento. This 3 part scenario will be kind of a recreation of the doubleheader’s journey through the Feather River Canyon.
