Elektrická jednotka 460 je československá elektrická jednotka, po rozdělení federace používaná v obou jejích nástupnických státech.

Byla sériově vyráběna v letech 1974–1978 v závodě Vagónka Tatra n. p. Studénka.

Řešení jednotek vychází z řady 560, oproti této řadě nebo řadě 451/452 jsou však použita jak celkově, tak i u některých uzlů tradičnější řešení.

Kvůli zvýšení pevnosti skříně (oproti řadě 451/452, která byla částečně nízkopodlažní) bylo zvoleno vysokopodlažní uspořádání.

Na rozdíl od střídavých jednotek 560 byla použita odporová regulace výkonu s předpokladem budoucí výměny za tyristorovou pulzní, ke které však nikdy nedošlo. Také byly použity obvyklejší podvozky s tuhým rámem namísto rámů torzně poddajných a s individuálním pohonem dvojkolí namísto skupinového.

Řada 460 dojezdila 20. 4. 2024 v pravidelném provozu, ovšem ještě nějakou chvíli bude jezdit na výluce linky R27 z Ostravy do Opavy (linka vede do Olomouce).

The 460 electric unit is a Czechoslovak electric unit, used in both successor states after the division of the federation.

It was mass-produced in 1974-1978 at the Vagónka Tatra n. p. Studénka plant.

The design of the units is based on the 560 series, but compared to this series or the 451/452 series, more traditional solutions are used both overall and for some units.

To increase the strength of the cabinet (compared to the 451/452 series, which was partly low-floor), a high-floor layout was chosen.

Unlike the AC 560 units, resistive power control was used with the expectation of future replacement with thyristor pulse control, which never happened. Also, the more usual rigid-frame chassis were used instead of torsionally compliant frames, and individual wheelset drive instead of group drive.

The 460 series arrived on 20 April 2024 in regular service, but it will still run for a while on the R27 line from Ostrava to Opava (the line goes to Olomouc).
