Description
Listen. I know how it is. You’ve got a shiny new game and you’re hyped to build yourself the perfect craft brewery staffed by a legion of go-juice powered cat-girl-winged-vampires. But first, you need to collect all the genes required. You can feel your dreams dying before your eyes, just like your pawns, because you weren’t paying attention to what that mechanoid raid was doing.

Don’t worry. I got you. This mod will solve all your problems.

Okay, only your gene related problems, you’re on your own for everything else.

Warning

This is meant to be a late-game mod. It will dramatically increase your wealth. If you obtain it early-game, consider using the 'clear' button to keep it empty when it's not in use.

How to Use

Build/install the Gene Library. It will be empty upon creation. Hit the "refresh" button to populate the library. Then go forth and build your vampire cat girls.

Features

This mod adds a new building called a Gene Library. It provides every gene in the game - included modded genes. Think of it like a pre-filled gene bank.

It is obtainable as a quest reward. It can also be built for a mountain of resources, if you've hit endgame and RNG hasn't been in your favor.

Includes a "refresh" button in case you need to wipe out and repopulate the library. If you don't see a gene you expect to see, try refreshing the library.

Includes a "clear" button that empties the library. Useful if you don't want some mod made by a random jerk on the internet getting your colony wrecked by an oversized raid.

How It Works

I admit it. This is really hacky. Really not my finest moment. But hey, I wanted a shortcut and so that's what I built!

The code for this is basically a replica of the existing gene bank, but with some extra buttons that auto-populates the contents with every gene available. This means that the Gene Library really does contain every gene. You can eject them. They count towards your wealth. They'll be destroyed if the library is destroyed or if you uninstall it.

See? Kind of hacky. But this mod isn't meant to be balanced, it's meant to be a shortcut. I refuse to feel shame.

So enjoy your cat girl vampires.

Compatibility

This mod can be added to existing saves.

This mod can be removed from existing saves - just destroy any Gene Libraries you have first.

Issues

Please follow standard bug reporting procedures. Send me a log and a description of what was going on when the error happened. Ex: what other gene mods do you have installed? Did those mechanoids hit the Gene Library with a bullet when the error happened?

The more information you can give me, the more likely I'll be able to figure out how to recreate it and fix it. If I can't do that... then you're stuck with the bug, sorry. Help me help you.

I hit refresh and my computer screamed in pain my colonists froze in terror and the entire planet seemed to come to a complete standstill. Holy lag.

When i saw gene library i wanst expecting cheat console.

Hear me out. If you can. Could you make something like this. But not giving you all genes?
It would work like that.
You build it and it works like wiki. You have listed every gene that exist in your current game. Show which you currently have or even store it. But most important. It would give you option to create blueprint for perfect pawn even if you dont have all genes. It would just sit there for time when you get needed genes.

You can right click genes while in the "recombine" interface and eject them that way. Although it would be good if there was a method to blacklist genes from specific mods.

I found that it refreshed genes from vre: Android, yet they shouldn't be there because it's for androids in the mod. Is there a way to remove some genes by hand?

If your library does not connect to the genetic assembler then try putting the Gene library mod below the other genetics mods in the mod list.
I had a conflict with the Gene extractor tiers mod. After changing the order of loading everything worked fine.

It's a quest reward like the chemreactor or vanometric battery. It's just rare, I've only gotten it a couple of times. I usually just build it if I'm ready to start gene editing but haven't gotten it yet.

What triggers the quest? I've been waiting for it with two different colonies...
