Description
The KiHa 110 Series (キハ110系) is a DMU operated by JR East on unelectrified lines.

Designed in conjuction with the KiHa 100 series, the KiHa 110 series became the larger 20 meter model for relatively busier lines. Technical equipment and other parts were standardized between the two types to a high degree, and the exterior is near-identical apart from the KiHa 110's significantly longer car body. A number of subvariants were manufactured from 1990 to 1999, these includes the 0 series, which was the last dedicated express train introduced by any JR company. These typically include airline style seating and are only used on express/rapid services, but are not limited express vehicles and thus charges the same flat distance based fares as regular local trains. Most express/rapid services are now operated by the same rolling stock as local trains. For the 100/200 series variants, cars are formed of a single dual cab vehicle, and fixed 2 car sets, these operate both independently and together as a 3 car set. The type is widely seen throughout the Tōhoku region, and can also be found in the Shin'etsu region and the outer periphery of the Kantō region. 215 cars were produced, all are in service except one accident damaged vehicle.
