Description
The 2000 Series (2000系) is an EMU operated by Sendai Subway on the Tōzai Line.

Introduced upon the Tōzai Line's opening in 2015, the 2000 Series is a standard gauge subway car using linear motors. The unique design of the front car is inspired by the cresent moon found on the helmet of Date Masamune, a famous samurai warlord from the region. Technical specifications of the type is similar to other modern mini-subway lines found in other secondary Japanese cities, which features a narrow body, shorter vehicles, and running on standard gauge. All cars adopt the '0.5M' design of having 2 motors per car and no trailer cars. This allows a possible future addition of a fifth car to be added in the middle of the consist without affecting performance. Digital wayfinding placed inside each car displays information in four languages, and incorporate animated diagrams of each station, allowing passengers to easily locate exits, lifts, and escalators. In total, 60 cars were manufactured in 15 4-car consists.
