Description
Coming into production in the early 1920s, the Reading Company built 285 cabeese based off of USRA designs. These would become the beloved NE Steel cabeese. Several railroads built copies of this type of caboose, including the Detroit, Columbus, And Atlantic. These cabeese would be built during the late 1930s and serve the railroad well into the 1970s. Following retirement, they were either placed into MOW service, sold to second hand owners, or scrapped.
