Description
The 2000 Series (2000系) is an EMU operated by Saitama Railway on commuter services.

Manufactured for the opening of the Saitama Stadium Line in 2001, the 2000 series is the first and only type operated by Saitama Railway. The '2000' name comes from the line scheduled to open in 2000, but it was delayed to the year after. Saitama Railway is a third-sector company established by the Saitama Prefectural Government, and constructed the line as a functional extension to the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line into Saitama Prefecture. The line stretches 14.6 km with 8 stations, with ridership pre-pandemic numbered around 118,000 daily. The 2000 series was designed based on the technical information of the Tokyo Metro 9000 type, and thus has similar specifications. 10 6-car sets was produced totalling 60 cars. Plans to extended the formations to 8 cars have been considered since the type's design, these are likely to materialise as other vehicles running on the same lines are in the process of extension. All operations through runs onto the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line, and some services continue further on Tokyu and Sōtetsu Lines.
