Description
The KiHa E130 Series (キハE130系) is a DMU operated by JR East on regional services.

Introduced in 2007 for the Suigun Line, the KiHa E130 series is a general purpose diesel train, the first to be manufactured by JR East since 1999. The KiHa 100/ KiHa 110 types was the types primarily seen on unelectrified lines, but they only had 2 doors per side, which caused congestion and delays on more frequently used lines. Similar to other JR East DMUs, the KiHa E130 series is composed of the of a single car with dual cabs (E130 type) and a 2-car set (E131 and E132), thus services can be operated with 1,2, or 3 cars. The 100 variant was produced for the Kururi Line in 2012, these only included the single car E130-100. JR East also decided to introduce the type to the Hachinohe Line in 2017 as the 500 series variant, 18 of these were produced. In total, 67 cars are in operation.
