Description
The KiHa 120 Series (キハ120形) is an single car DMU operated by JR West on unelectrified rural lines.

Produced from 1992-1996, the KiHa 120 Series is a general-type diesel train for various local lines across the JR West network. The type features a lightweight design and bus style doors to reduce production costs, as well as provisions for one-man operations such as digital fare displays and collection boxes. Bus-type cooling systems are also installed, although propulsion systems and use of bogies are standard for rail vehicles, it is thus not considered a railbus. 3 variants were produced, the 0 series uses long seating, the 200 series has a narrower body but features semi-cross seating, while the 300 series has the width of the 0 series and the seating layout of the 200 series. In total, 89 cars were manufactured, all except one accident damaged vehicle are currently in service.
