ИС-2 образца 1944 года — советский тяжёлый танк периода Великой Отечественной войны. Аббревиатура ИС означает «Иосиф Сталин» — официальное название серийных советских тяжёлых танков выпуска 1943—1953 годов. Индекс «2» соответствует второй серийной модификации танка этого семейства.

Танк разработан Челябинским тракторным заводом в 1943 году. ИС-2 стал ответом немецким «Тиграм» и «Пантерам». Танки ИС-2 поступали на вооружение и отдельных тяжёлых танковых полков прорыва, оказавших существенное влияние на ход боевых действий в 1944-1945 годах, при штурме немецких городов. В 1944 году на вооружение поступил усовершенствованный ИС-2, со «спрямлённой» лобовой деталью. ИС-2 находились на вооружении советской и российской армий до 1995 года.

The IS-2 model 1944 is a Soviet heavy tank of the Great Patriotic War period. The abbreviation IS means "Joseph Stalin" — the official name of the serial Soviet heavy tanks produced in 1943-1953. The index "2" corresponds to the second serial modification of the tank of this family.

The tank was developed by the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant in 1943. The IS-2 was the answer to the German Tigers and Panthers. IS-2 tanks also entered service with individual heavy tank regiments of the breakthrough, which had a significant impact on the course of hostilities in 1944-1945, during the storming of German cities. In 1944, the improved IS-2 entered service, with a "straightened" frontal part. The IS-2 was in service with the Soviet and Russian armies until 1995.
