TREKORION: FL-2A Clipar | Fe (Fighter)

Being used extensively by the United Constellation of Settlements (UCS) in the Colony Wars of the 2210s and 20s, the FL-2A proved to be a rugged and reliable planetary interceptor. With lots of guns and missiles, and an impulse drive that propels it to a significant fraction of the speed of light even within a gravity well, this monster showed its teeth at the battles of Kelimar, Voltera, and proved its worth in the nightly raids of the UCS' main cities, namely Novocordon and Seccia.

During the entry years of the Colony Wars, the FL-2A was one of the Constellation's only fighters modern enough to stand up to the higher numbers of the primary foe, the Kursu Sovereignty, and as such saw extensive promotion in propaganda and media of the time. The "Star of Liberation" or a wing being called the "Savior's Constellation" were two of many war titles earned by the vessel given to it by its unique appearance at full engine power as it passed overhead. Its navigation lights would appear to flicker varying colors as the craft sped up within an atmosphere by gently bending the space around it with its emergency interception mode for incurring spacecraft and fighters to liberate the border colonies.

As for how this fighter operates, it uses a rudimentary impulse drive series to bend space around it within an atmosphere, effectively changing the forces of gravity in two layers; regular space around the plane, but substantially higher gravity just beyond the first drive's borders which substantially thins the air just in front of the vessel, allowing it to fly at far higher speeds without a large environmental impact. This drive would go on to be perfected after the colony wars culminating in the FL-2M/V which in addition to a more perfected drive, also offered lower radar cross sections with stealthier weapon mounts.
