Introduction to R&D History：
The 'DongFeng' 4D freight electric drive diesel locomotive was transformed by Dalian Locomotive Works in China based on the previously developed 'DongFeng' 4D diesel locomotive. The first locomotive was produced in 1998, and mass production began the following year. The locomotive mainly changed the transmission gear ratio from 68:24 to 63:14, and a total of 405 units were produced.
