Description
The 05 Series (05系) is an EMU operated by Tokyo Metro on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line.

Introduced in 1988 to replace the 5000 series, the 05 series went through a number of production batches with somewhat differing specifications. Cars for the Tozai Line were in a fixed 10-car formation, while a 3-car variant was produced for the Chiyoda Kita-Ayase Branch Line. Production initially lasted from 1988-1994, but resumed in 1999 with a redesigned exterior, these sets would be referred to as the 5N series. In total, 430 cars were produced. The oldest batches have been replaced by the 15000 series since 2011, some sets have also been transferred to KAI Commuter in Indonesia. Through-running operations are carried out on the JR Chūō-Sōbu Line and Tōyō Rapid Line.
