Description
Paint your Pipes & Wires

This mod allows you to color pipes, rails, wires and logic components. This coloring can also be toggled to show in overlays.


Current latest Version: 1.4.1




Features
  • Paint Gas pipes, liquid pipes, shipping rails, power wires, logic wires, logic components
  • Overlay Color Toggle: switch between the regular overlay mode and the painted version (also comes with hotkey, by default shift + C, this can be adjusted in the normal hotkey settings)
  • Color Sharing: you can copy the color of items of the same type via a "copy settings" button
  • Color whole network: share the selected color with all connected pipes/wires in the network (follows vanilla highlighting rules for network definition).
  • "Overlay Only" mode (activatable in the config) - only overlays display selectable colors, material color mods take effect

  • Material Color Mods: your selected paint colors will take priority over the material color
  • Reverse Bridges: Compatibility Patch in place
  • Gigawatt Wire: wires and bridges of this mod are made paintable

It's just what I wanted, with colors uniform on the familiar game screen, but colors separated by purpose underneath the surface.
I'll never have to get confused about wiring or piping again. I'll treasure this mod.

go to the mod options (main menu -> mods -> "config" button on the mod entry), enable the checkbox of "Paint Overlays Only".
this will make it only display colors in the overlay, not in regular mode

I want to use this MOD to organize the pipeline during overlay, but I don't want it to affect the normal appearance during gameplay.
This may be selfish, but just like you can toggle the display of colors during overlay,
is it possible to toggle the display of colors by turning paint on and off even when not in overlay mode?
That way, in addition to being able to enjoy the changes in appearance, I feel this MOD would do a great job as a means of separating wiring lines for people who don't want the appearance to change.

the button "paint overlays" is the toggle for that.

Is it possible to disable the layout for automation layer ? (or have an option where the wires show the logic value and not the wire color).

The issue is that in automation layout, the wires are by default red or green in base game (depending on the signal state). With the paint layout enable, all wires become white - regardless of their logic. On big automation debugging, it helps to see the wire state and not white (or whatever user decides) color.

Probably the best would be user defined color that is affected by signal value (e.g. more intense / more green or more red-ish).

cant reproduce any crash with both mods enabled, vitals panels open and clicking a tile

Possible conflict with FastTrack, Haven't done extensive testing but disabling this stopped me from crashing when having say vitals up and clicking on some tile. Just trying to get ModList working atm so won't be doing further testing, just putting out some possible advice for anyone else having issues.

TY ill give it a try, its not just this mod that I have to delete from my folder to update it, since the mod updater/manager would not.
