Blackouts [B41]

Description
How it Works

- Adds a small chance for power outages to occur randomly at any time of day, and for the power to come back on after a while. Customizable in sandbox settings.
- Adds a 1 point cost trait that spawns you with a hand torch.
- The permanent shutoff date still happens, based on the random shutoff date from vanilla, but it can be overridden with my mod in sandbox settings.
- Now compatible with multiplayer!

Recommended with The Long Night and other horror mods!

Events

You can trigger Blackout events using Lua mods or the debug console. The following commands are used to trigger events; hopefully their names are self-explanatory:
triggerEvent("BlackoutsForceShutoff") triggerEvent("BlackoutsForceRestore") triggerEvent("BlackoutsRequestServerData")

Compatibility

Though we have gone to significant lengths to make this mod play nicely with countless other mods, we cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that our mod will never have a conflict of interest with other mods that rely on adjustments to the hydro power state of the map or ElecShutModifier, because these are the fundamental variables of most power grid management in Zomboid as far as we can tell. Our mod does seem to be playing nicely with Restore Utilities according to recent reports, but please reach out to us on Discord if you have any issues, and we will attempt to help as soon as possible.

This is personally one of my favorite mods when I was doing my realistic build 41 runs. I hope this mod gets updated for later iterations of the game in the future! Best wishes! <3

Works fine in B42 if you just make the necessary folder adjustments yourself, fyi.

this is honestly one of my favorite mods for Zomboid. that risk of you deep in a building trying to avoid zombies and BAM! lights out! i really hope you do come back and make this for B42 when its able.

This mod does not make anything knock on your doors. Haha. But it may be the reason your power goes out.

duno if its from this mod but, i keep having phantom things knocking out our door and some times when i go out to see it, the power goes out in the base

i will probably start playing again when b42 has multiplayer, but i will not be focusing on the mod for a while so i can enjoy the game again. but then i'll eventually look into how much needs to be done to port it to 42

Someone mentioned water events. Aren't water facilities with their massive pumps powered by electricity too? perhaps you could simply add an option to include water shutdown when the power blacks out? Most big water facilities have backup power that kicks in when power goes out, but that only lasts so long without people around to maintain and refuel them. Great mod BTW. Love the concept and how it boost immersion.

Hello, this mod is not currently in development. When B42 is fully released I will decide if I have time to work on updating this mod for compatibility along with adding other WIP features we never got around to. For now, please enjoy this mod as it is in Build 41, and be patient until we see where we can go with it when Build 42 is out.
