Introduction to R&D History：
The 2002 test car of 'DongFeng' 4 electric transmission diesel locomotive was improved from the 2001 test car of 'DongFeng' 4 diesel locomotive made in 1969 by Dalian Locomotive Factory of socialist China. It was successfully developed in 1973. After many improvements to the combustion engine problems discovered through previous experiences, the 'DongFeng' 4 2002 test car finally solved many shortcomings of the previous 2001 locomotive. After testing, the 'DongFeng' 4 diesel locomotive was finally finalized and officially put into production in 1974. The early production model was called the 'DongFeng' 4A model, which was later renamed the 'DongFeng' 4 model. This locomotive is one of the many internal combustion locomotives born in the last few years of the socialist era, and also one of the most common models on Chinese railways; After China's reform and opening up, there were more than ten types of modifications and technological improvements based on this locomotive. Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of production relations after the reform and opening up, locomotive factories have become private and bear their own profits and losses. There is a lack of research and development funds, and many socialist accumulated technological achievements have been taken down. There is also a rampant social trend from top to bottom, where 'it is better to buy foreign goods than to make ourself'; It is precisely because of this that the main technologies of these improved models have not undergone much new development.
