Description
High Elven Longbowmen "Long Range" Fix.

When I played the original back in 1994, the Elven Longbowmen unit had the Long Range skill. The skill never appeared in the UI, but was documented as almost a hidden feature of the unit.

Missile units also received 2 shots a turn (which is another story).

This is a fix to restore the "Long Range" skill to the venerated Elven Longbowmen, the best High Elven unit and arguably, the best ranged unit in the game.

This Mod gives players a chance to see for themselves the impact of the Elven Archer with the "Long Range" skill restored makes.

Sorry I could not respond earlier. What mod is causing the conflict do you thin?

I fixed my issue. I had to lower the mod under another mod that modifies units.

For some reason this mod is not working for me. It doesn't show the long range skill and during the game it is still showing % based on range. Am I doing something wrong?

Agree, they are rather decent, especially with pathfinding. They also have decent melee ratings as well.

In general, the Nomads are a fairly balanced race and a welcomed addition to any empire.

I find that the Rangers of the Nomad faction are a pretty good ranged unit.

"Halfling slingers have numerous advantages, and can be the best range attack
regular unit. Unlike Paladins, they require only a few buildings and can be
available very early in the game. They are lucky, giving a plus one to hit,
defend and resist. Most important, they have 8 figures, so each enhancement
produces 8 hits of benefit. Elite Slingers typically do 4*8*.5=16 hits
damage. By comparison, Elite Longbowmen, another contender for best range
attack regular unit, do 6*6*.5=18. But, if you add in Lion Heart (+2),
Mithril (+1), and Warlord to get Ultra-elite, you have Ultra-elite Slingers
with 7*8*.6=33.6 and Ultra-elite Longbowmen with 9*6*.6=32.4. With Crusade,
Adamantium, Flame Blade, or Giant Strength the slinger's get further ahead of
the Longbowmen. Because they both get +1 to hit, Slingers and Longbowmen are
better than just about any other missile attack regular unit.

This is a 1995 breakdown of the potential unit damage. But it make the assumption that both have a 50% chance to hit and does not consider "Long Range".

so they say, but i beg to differ as slingers did not have the "Long Range" skill.

Pretty sure consensus is Slingers are the best ranged units. Longbowmen are second.
