Proper configuration of CM Normandy.exe for 2K displays (and more)
By ecidou
Just to complete this existing guide "Proper configuration of CM Normandy.exe for 4K displays", to solve its main drawback, even on my 2K (QHD : 2560x1440) display = UI elements will be small ...

The issue
  • I've searched on few CM forums, and I've read that : "if you want a bigger UI, just lower the resolution", so I've tried 1920x1080 ... BUT the drawback here = the font was very pixelated, like the 3D game display (even with AA in game or in NVIDIA panel) !?
  • No solution found anywhere ... So you had to choose between buying a magnifying glass :-) or sticking with a readable but ugly UI and no AA ...
The solution
  • But today ... 'Eureka' :-)
    • Why I choose 1920x1080 resolution ? Simply because it's just the first lower 16/9 (!) resolution ... below my 2560x1440 resolution ... 16/9 too !
    • But it was the wrong way ... The CMx2 titles resolution start at 1024x768 => 16/10 !!!
    • So I replace by this "marvelous :-)" 1920x1200 resolution (16/10 too) and everything works fine, very near to my native 2K resolution
To sump up
My parameters on my 2K screen are simply :
  • 125% Windows upscaling, so with : 'Override high DPI scaling behaviour. Scaling performed by:' 'Application' (see the 4K guide)
  • AA in game
  • 'display size.txt' with '1920 1200 0'
  • 3D model quality: improved
  • 3D texture quality: best
  • (And NO complicated configuration in the NVIDIA panel ;-) )

@ZIMNY
If this doesn't solve your problem (of course, if you got the 16/10 resolution right), another thing to be aware of for CM is to not enable FXAA... which also results in a blurry/pixelated font

Hi,
I have same issue
but it looks like this solution doesn't work for me.
Do You have any other idea what can I do to get good quality?
The font in this pixelated form is very tiring
