Character
On Xera you can have only one character in the game.

What does it means?

You will have access to your inventory and all your items across all servers, and when you want to change server, you will keep the gear which is on your character.

Your character will have different statistic as skill rating, kills and death, experience, ingame money, etc. (With incoming updates there will be a skill tree incoming)

Starting
Create and Customize

your character: Simple enough. Make your character look the way you want.

Wardrobe
Putting on clothing: Before you join a server you need to equip your clothing by going into your wardrobe. You do this by going to customize character then selecting the wardrobe tab, choose your clothing and click Save.

Play

Joining a server: Click play and choose your region, then select a server, just a suggestion if you're new you might want to start out on a low population server just to get used to the game a bit first.

Starting your wipe/building Section: So you created your character, found a server and joined it. Now you're asking yourself what the hell do i do now. Well the skys the limit, you could go to a town and loot some buildings for weapons and ammo and craftables,
or you could go try to do an event and kill some AI, or maybe you want to start by getting your base together,

Whichever you choose you will most likely want to start by looking for some small looking trees to find some branches, sticks, and plant Fibre to make a hatchet and pickaxe.

IMPORTANT
You need a hammer to upgrade your base. i.e Wood to stone, stone to metal. Also you can use the hammer to code lock everything. (which I highly suggest you do) You also use the hammer to pick up and demolish things.

Base Building
You also need to build a LAND CLAIM first and place it, once you do that you can build your base in the highlighted area. Also if you are grouped with anyone, the land claim owner which is the person that placed the land claim has to be online for anyone else that is in the group to be able to build, otherwise they will have to remove their Land claim and let another person that is on and in their group place it. It can be picked up by using a hammer.

Claiming Land
Red means unable too place Land marker, which means you either or to close to another players plot, or to a town city/ event.

Green means you can place.

Red means NO

After Claiming land you need to craft in your crafting menu the Base foundation.

You then need to craft walls and a door to secure.
Teams / Groups
Groups: Everybody likes playing survival games with their friends who doesn't, and to do that you simply just press and hold P on your keyboard and find the players name in the list and invite them to your group.

IMPORTANT
You will have to make a party and invite each other every time you log in the server.

Once joining a group, you cant leave it unless you disconnect and reconnect.
Food and Water
There is no stamina but you will have to take care of the hunger and thirst level of your character.

above 70% of food and water, your character slowly regen health which is really appreciable. at 0% of one of it or both, you will loose health pretty quickly.

To avoid this, you can find food in civilian areas (kitchens have a lot usually) and on some robots or crates, most of them provide you between 10 and 15% food.

You can also craft a fishing trap and then cook the fish in a crafted campfire for a 35% gain in food.

For the water, you can find bottles of dirty or clean water and canteens. Dirty water dont give you penalty, its just give you less amount of water (ou can still purify them on a crafted campfire).
Empty bottles and empty canteens can be filled in the water or when its raining. Notice that each jump make you loose 0.5 water.

Health
To gain health there are many ways

Crafting Gauges , Bandages

Finding Medkits , Bandages, Morphine , Painkillers
Leveling
You start the game at level 1.

How to level?
Doing events, looting and killing, and crafting Level is defined by your current xp. for each death you loose xp (but you can't loose a level).
Each new level grinded allows you to have a bigger stash weight available, so you can stash more loot.

The higher level you reach , the bigger your stash will be.

Some interesting crafting recipes also only unlock when reaching a specific level.

Crafting
There is multiple things you can craft in xera: drones, better melees weapons, c4, fishing trap, bandages etc.

Some require a certain level to be unlocked.

crafts like explosive drones give you a very nice tool for your combat experience, monitoring it from the sky or exploding it on your enemies.

(base building incoming)
Loot
There is different places means different kind of loot:

Civilian loot:
in towns, farms, cars.

Medical loot:hospitals and ambulance most likely, airdrops, heli crash and model x. this doesnt include gauze (basic bandage) which you can find pretty much everywhere

Military loot:in compounds, airdrops, model x (or blue robots sometimes), military areas (roadblocks, nator and airport) heli crash and civilian bunker event.

you can find loot on the ground but not only. Search for medical bags, duffle bags, crates, military crate, cabinets, dead robots, etc.

Vehicles
Vehicles is your quickest way of transportation in the game.

Vehicles on each server has a maximum number of vehicles spawned on a map and that is 18 (Subject to change possibly).

All Vehicles cost fuel to run

Vehicles have option to put loot into vehicles

The storage in the vehicles consist of 5 slots but can stack multiple things such as thousands of ammo or weapons or drinks, ect.

PLEASE NOTE :
vehicles despawn after 3 hours of inactive use on claimed land (Own Base Area ) .

Helicopter:
a helicopter is flying from safe zone to safe zone to transport players, it cost 50 ingame currency for a use and allows you to drop with a parachute on the map during the travel (you can't pilot it for obvious reasons).

ATV:

4 ATVs are currently spawning on the map. Its a 1 seat vehicule with a duffle bag storage.ATVs are very useful for fast travelling around the map on free roam (unlike helicopter).
You'll need to refuel it with a gas tank (gas stations are in the towns) and sometimes repair it with a crowbar.

Buggy:
Safe Zone
Settlements are a safe haven in the game where you can store anything in your global stash and transfer it to other servers,
It also has a vendor where you can buy multiple different things like weapons, ammo, food, water ect, and that changes every 20 minutes or so.

There is also a public helicopter that can transport you from settlement to settlement for a fee of $500 in game currency.

You can also sell your junk and stuff to the vendor like Gold and silver bars are very nice and get you a pretty chunk of cash.

IMPORTANT
Your Hunger, and Thirst will go up slowly while in the settlement while your RADS will go down.

There is currently 2 safe zones, or settlements in the map.
One north west (castle rock) and one south east of the world (golden eagle).
They are safe areas where you can't shoot or be shoot.

There is 2 npcs in each one of them. One is used to access to your global inventory (via Grace npc) , allowing you to store items that you can use later (after a death for exemple).

The other is used to interact with the seller (via marquet npc) in order to gain ingame currency, but also to get rid of some stuff you won't use.
this is the place where you can use helicopter.
Farming Resources
The tools in the game all farm the same amount of resources, it's usually +1 per hit.

IMPORTANT
When you place your ores in the furnace you need to put in wood logs to start it.
Global Inventory
Global inventory means that you can store loot you found in a safe place that nobody can break.
its is usefull to gear up after a death or after a looting session to empty your character backpack.
It also means you can access to it across different servers.

The size of your stash is limited by weight. You can upgrade it by leveling up your character and get up to 3000kg free space for the highest level.
Weapons

a

a

Ammo sometimes drop from NPCS and Ammo Storage crates aswell as random containers found across map.

Aiming
First Person Shooting "C Keybind"

And

Third Person Shooting
Map
On every server each map is the same.

PvE (NPCS)
Types of NPCS:

Red
(XOID/Robots) which are basic,
Red and Blue XOIDs you can just Melee and stun lock them pretty much the electric pipe or knuckles are very useful against them,

regular ones: they are brown, easy kill, 1 hit with the melee (be sure to use first person and aim their head for this) or 2 bullets in the head with most of the weapons.civilian loot possible by looting their dead body.

they are yellow with red lights on it, explode on contact. Be careful with them, they hurt. same possible loot as regular ones.

Blue
(Stalker XOID) which are a little stronger and faster,
Red and Blue XOIDs you can just Melee and stun lock them pretty much the electric pipe or knuckles are very useful against them,

Blue takes 20 headshot to kill, i dont advise to try melee on them, appears mostly at night. military loot possible by looting their dead body.

Green
(Heavy XOID) which are even faster and super strong.
Reccomending Shooting

(Beware of the green ones, try to run around obstacles and jump up on boxes while killing it. DO NOT STAND STILL)

Model x (boss robot). ( Strong , Requires Gun power)
60 headshots to kill, i dont advise either to try melee on this big guy. Its located in military areas: compounds, nator, airport x2.It is dropping high tier loot including meds, weapons (possible but rare sniper drop).

ScavengersThey normally dress up in blue uniform and use a MP5, these NPCS may look like players and normally takes about 15 shots to kill depending on weapon.

PvP
PVP is mainly done 3rd person because i find it a lot easier to see my surroundings and to see around corners which is a huge advantage.

against people that are playing in first person, and always try to stay behind or near cover and use it to your advantage, And most importantly and i mean it Always and i mean ALWAYS keep extra water and meds on you.

Dehydration comes quickly and you might need those meds to keep yourself alive until you find water.

IMPORTANT

Grenades are your friends, always try to have one or two on you if you're going for a roam.
Bring First aid and some food.

Raiding
When raiding its reccomending to use explosives, C4 has a base damage of 150 Damage per.

So an example would be 1 C4 per wooden Box, 4 C4 for wood wall, 8 C4 for stone, 12 C4 for metal.

Grenades do a base damage of 25 per. So an example would be 6 grenades for 1 box.
Events
Events: Events trigger periodically around the map which rewards random resources, weapons, ammo, cash and xp. You can see all the events that are happening on your map by pressing M.

there is different dynamic pve events accross the map. Keep in mind that each event can quickly become a high pvp spot.

some of them will be noticed by voice announcement, but they all will be shown on the map with eventually different status (compound and civilian bunker event).

Heli crash:

some helicopter crashes are randomly spawning in the world. They will be announced by an audio message and will be shown on the map. This one of the most valuable event for high tier loot (including some rare civilian bunker key loot)
no robots on this event.

Compound:

there is 3 different status : disable, enable, occupied. When disabled, its not showing on the map but you can still go there to loot some gear.

When its enabled, it will be shown as white fist in the map (you can go for it).
When its occupied (red fist in the map), it means someone is trying to achieve the event or went in the area next to it (currently occupied or have been occupied).

In this event, you'll need to defeat 35 robots (mostly regulars with blue ) in order to have 2 aidrops as a reward (plus some xp and ingame currency for the achievement).

There is also a model x (boss robot) defending the area so you better bring some ammo before trying.

Airdrop:

some airdrops are randomly spawning in the world. They will be announced by an audio message and will be shown on the map.

Civilian bunker:
rare and high tier loot possible here, only accessible when the event is marked on the map and you need to have a civilian bunker key to activate it (you can find it only in helicopter crash if lucky).

you will have to defeat 30 robots before you can enter the bunker once the door is opened (including exploding robots and blue robots) .
Currency
The seller (npc named marquet)
in each one of the safe zones. he's located between tents.

Selling items will be rewarded with some in game currency. You will need this money to use the helicopter going from safe zone to safe zone, allowing you to drop on the map. It can also be used to buy top tier gear.

There is a rotation in the items every 20 mins. The prices and the items are not always the same, including through different servers and safe zones.
Its important to notice that the seller will buy at a 2x better price if he's himself selling it in the actual rotation.

Ingame currency is needed to use the helicopter or to buy some good supplies to the safe zone sellers.

How to get ingame currency?

You can sell Loot you found on server the extra stuff you wont need there is a seller npc in the safe zone recommending to go there after a loot run ( if you have any extra stuff ) .

You can also find money in different places: atm, cash register, dead robots, duffle bags or by doing events and leveling up your character.
Status
When you shoot at someone who didnt shoot you, you'll be put in agressor status for some times
It means that you can no longer be protected in the safe zone (you will loose hp and players will be able to kill you) till the end of the timer.
You know someone is agressor when you see his nameplate in red so be careful when you engage combat when near to a safe zone area.
