NEC: Washington-Philadelphia

Description
Route Description:

The Northeast Corridor (NEC) is an electrified railroad line in the Northeast megalopolis of the United States. Mostly owned by Amtrak, it runs from Boston in the north to Washington, D.C. in the south, with major stops in Providence, New Haven, Stamford, New York City, Newark, Trenton, Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore. The NEC closely parallels Interstate 95 for most of its length. Carrying more than 2,200 trains a day, it is the busiest passenger rail line in the United States by ridership and by service frequency. The majority of the line is built for speeds higher than 100 MPH (161 km/h). The NEC is generally divided into four distinct sections, being Boston-New Haven, New Haven-New York, New York-Philadelphia, and Philadelphia-Washington. This route covers the latter-most section of the NEC from Philadelphia to Washington.

This section of the NEC between Philadelphia and Washington has a history spanning almost two centuries, with the earliest parts of the line opening around 1837. From 1928 until 1935, the line was gradually electrified for high-speed rail services. Over the years, the tracks between Philadelphia and Washington eventually became the mainline of the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington Railroad (PB&W). The PB&W Railroad operated from 1902 to 1976, with the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) becoming its major operator/maintainer until Amtrak's formation in May 1971. Presently, the line is now entirely owned by operated by Amtrak, although MARC, SEPTA, and Norfolk Southern trains still continue to share tracks with Amtrak trains.

Route Features:
This is the full 136-mile (219 km) southernmost section of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor electrified high-speed rail line running from ZOO Interlocking in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Union Station in Washington, D.C. This route is a direct extension of the Baltimore to Washington route available as payware DLC in the Steam store. All MARC and SEPTA stations are included within the Baltimore to Philadelphia section of the route. Also included within this route is SEPTA's Airport Line.
This route primarily makes use of the Washington to Baltimore signalling. This route currently uses Train Type "A" speed limits; In other words, the displayed speed limits display the speeds for Acela Express trains with their tilt systems enabled. To view the Train Type "B" speed limits, as well as other speed limit types and other operating instructions for the route, please see the attached link to the file at the end of the description.

Wow, it's amazing you have done the route from Washington DC to Philadelphia, ever though about extending the route to New York City in the future?

I really appreciate the authors efforts in making this route completed. This is probably the latest comments here, but I can say that there is no more crash in any part of the route, and you can use scenario mode to design your own. The view is fantastic and very detailed, which I think it's better than some of the DTG routes. Anyway, for people who wants to play this, feel free to install, there is no problem at all. Thank again to the great authors!!!

I never made a backup for this route to replace the Networks folder in the current version. Would it be possible to update the route for everybody with this fix? Sorry, I'm not a very techy person, so I'm not sure.

I replaced the "Networks" folder with the one from the route back-up I made back in January 26, 2024 and the route is playable again through Philadelphia.

Ok, there's something very broken with the route because I'm getting a crash even with the route editor every time I go to Wilmington.

I tried a standard scenario to Philadelphia and then to Washington DC and every time you get near Wilmington the game crashed with an "Out of Memory" error. The same thing happens with Quick Drive scenarios. There's something "broken" either with the scenery or the tracks/signaling causing the crash.

FYI: I'm getting an "Out of Memory" error when approaching Wilmington, from Washington DC.
