More Backgrounds Balanced Edition

Description
This is a mod that adds 14 backgrounds. It also enables Spellblade characters to access the three special Mystic Backgrounds (Corvus' Apprentice, Desmond's Apprentice, Domina's Apprentice) as suggested over at the Discord server.

I plan on increasing the number of backgrounds in this mod. But it's a bit hard to come up with new ones while I'm also busy with other larger mods.

So suggestions are more than welcome!

This is a more balanced version of my other mod "More Backgrounds". Since some players didn't like the unbalanced backgrounds from that mod, I decided to make a more balanced version of the mod.
I couldn't find a way of balancing the "Polyhistor" background from the other mod, so I removed it entirely (how can you balance something that allows all expertises to be learned from the get-go?).

Below are the differences between the "More Backgrounds" mod and this one.

Chosen one:
  • Reduced Handsize bonus from +2 to +1.
  • Reduced PP bonus from +100 to +5.
  • Reduced LP bonus from +10 to +2.
  • Added +5 HP.
  • Added +2 AP.

Manimal:
  • Reduced all the free shapeshifting form cards from 3 to 1 (it went from 15 to 5).
  • Removed all the free Ally cards (there were 5 in total).
  • Removed all the Ripple Effects from summoning "Were" allies.
  • Werebat form Ripple effect changed from allies gaining +4 Lifespan to +1 Lifespan.
  • Werebear Form Ripple effect changed from gaining +20 Defense to +5 Defense.
  • Werecat Form Ripple effect changed from gaining +10 Retribution to +3 Retribution.
  • Wererat Form Ripple effect changed from casting a "Blight" card to casting a "Ravenous Bite" card.
  • Werewolf Form Ripple effect changed from allies gaining +8 Power to +1 Power.

Summoning Prodigy:
  • Removed all the Ripple Effects
  • Increased the Summon Limit from +1 to +2.
  • Added +2 Concentration.

Super Soldier:
  • Reduced Attribute Bonuses from Strength +4 to +2, Agility +4 to +2, Resilience +4 to +1, Willpower +2 to -2, Intellect +2 to -2 and Charisma +2 to -2.
  • Reduced Expertise Bonuses from Combat +2 to +1, Unarmed +2 to +1 and removed Leadership Expertise completely.
  • Reduced Affinity Bonuses from Bludgeoning +3, Slashing +2 and piercing +2 to +1 for all of them.
  • Reduced all resistance Bonuses from +2 to +1.

Polyhistor:
  • Completely removed the "Polyhistor" Background, since I have no idea how to balance that.

Do not use with the "More Backgrounds" mod, since they will both conflict.

If there is something still unbalanced in this mod, please leave a comment about it and if possible some suggestions on how to balance it out.

Thanks for the report @Zarrk ! :ErannorthRebornCheers:

I uploaded a fixed version. :steamhappy:

This is a weird bug, since I know for sure that earlier versions of the original mod didn't have this problem. I must have introduced this error in some later version of that mod before I made this balanced version, and then both versions ended up bugged... :steamfacepalm:

I've encountered a problem, the Inheritance background add 2 cards (Athame and Ceremonial Hat) to the Deck instead of the Inventory making them non recognized as equipment. This is easily fixable by changing AddDeck to AddInventory for those two.

Thanks for the feedback! :ec_requiem:

The thing is (unless it changed at some point) that allies usually have several types, so if a player summons 3 allies in one turn it will trigger all the ripple effects for every type. This can cause something like between 3 and 9+ ripple effects in one turn, this can be devastating against any enemy mob in the game, specially if the player has ally types that synergy well together.

The way I used to play summoner type of characters would be to just summon as many allies as I could per turn, using allies like 1 turn disposable actions, and it used to be quite OP if I was playing with the "Summoning Prodigy" of the original mod. Although I haven't played the game in literally years so things might have changed over the years.

Feedback: For the Summoning Prodigy, the current version actually seems stronger, while the "unbalanced" version just seemed more interesting.
