New South Wales 86 class tri-bogey locomotive (WIP)

Description
A New South Wales 86-class Tri-Bogey locomotive, based upon locomotive 8650.

The 86 class of locomotives were built by Comeng, Granville for use by the State Rail Authority on the Main Western, Main Northern, and later the Illawarra lines, all of which were electrified in the early 1980s. Producing 3860HP, the locomotives were the most powerful in Australia at the time and remain among the most powerful today.

8650 was the last 86 class locomotive to be produced, and featured a special Bo-Bo-Bo tri-bogey configuration which was used as a test for Comeng's upcoming electric locomotives in Queensland. The locomotive spent long periods of time out of service undergoing repair due to general reliability issues attributed to its unique design.

In the mid-1990s all were repainted in Freight Rail liveries, and they all switched to roles in freight rail. Around this time 18 locomotives had to be pulled from service due to cracks being found in their frames.

When the NSW freight rail network was privatised and sold to Pacific National in 2002, the decision was made to retire the locomotives, given the new private operators preference to through run diesel locomotives, rather than switch between diesel and electric.
7 locomotives have been preserved, with 2 operation and 5 being statically displayed.
Both operational locomotives are operated by SETS (Sydney Electric Train Society), with 8649 being returned to its original candy livery and occasionally being used for historic rail tours, and 8606 is occasionally leased back to Pacific National for maintenance work in the city circle.

This locomotive is very much as work-in-progress, with the following being planned but not yet implemented:
- Second cab functionality
- Improved gearbox (the current one is rubbish)
- More realistic aisleway between cabs
- Possibly a new cab (Unhappy with the current one)
- More stuff as I realise it is missing.
The locomotive currently moves back and forth, but that’s about it at the moment.
