How to Double Jump (secret!)
By Lord Baelish
UPDATED FOR PATCH 1.0.4
LAST UPDATED NOV 6 11:00 AM 2023

********* EDIT ************
As per the latest patch, the following updates have occurred: 1.0.4, 1.0.3.

Just wanted to send out this update for those looking at the guide.

The status of the double jump, as discussed below, is in question following the recent Nov 6 1.0.4 update to the game.

Just wanted to give a brief update on the mechanics of the double jump after these changes, and if anything has changed regarding the double jump given the recent changes by the developer KIRA LLC.

If anything is missed, please contact me immediately.

At this time, the double jump has not changed. I have verified this NOV 6 11:05 AM 2023 - I am still able to double jump.

Further edits may be found in the rest of the guide.

This is Lord Baelish's guide on how to Double Jump in Lunacid.

Hi all, welcome to my double jump guide. At this point in your playthrough, you're probably wondering "how do I get to the high area?"

Well, the answer is simple... and it's been hidden from you.

Press the space bar to jump. The first space bar press will commit your character to a single jump. From the position of a single jump, ordinarily you can move your character forwards, backwards, side to side - or even a combination of those like diagonal - during your jump. Near the end of your single jump, you'll come towards the end of the single jump. The very end of the single jump is signified by reaching the ground or any wall that's like say 1% horizontal. The single jump is the foundation of the double jump, which I'll get into soon.

The other thing that can happen during your single jump is you could die or in other words, your health points reach 0. In one example, you jump from a height that's too far. Your character will die from your single jump (and potentially from a Double Jump, more on that later). During your jump, your health points will drain and you will die, indicating that you have lost. The health points don't actually drain when you reach the ground, but during your descent, opposite to what you might think when reaching the ground in a normal situation. Afterwards, the game will show you a few graphics and then show the load screen where you can load or quit.

Finally, you could also get hit by an enemy during your single jump. The enemy wont cancel your single jump, but if you're unlucky, the enemy could deal an amount of damage that could lower your health points to 0. Then technically, your jump would never end and you'd just die. But that's also a way to stop the single jump albeit in an irregular way. If you so choose, you can reload your game and give yourself another opportunity to single jump after a few load screen. But that's somewhat besides the point.

NOV 6 2023 Edit:
Many have asked about the double jump changing, and I want to report the results on any changes to the double jump. Following patch 1.0.4, I went in and checked if the single jump was still working as written above. The positive news, as it were, was that the single jump was still observably functionally the same.

I wanted to also submit an amendment to my above explanation of the single jump as it is missing a significant amount of features. To start with, the single jump can also be concluded by reaching a corner. The 'ground' is described as two walls in this case, as your character is using the two walls to remain in place vertically. Now, the damage you'll take from your jump, that's actually dependent on your Dexterity stat. This is really important for the double jump, because the added height could result in some damage to your health points. It's not exactly clear how this works, but I will summarily get into it. As you increase your Dexterity stat, your jump height increases.

If your Dexterity was really high, you would jump really high. If you were really high and fell, you would take significant damage (whether from your single or double jump). That's why, the game engine makes a compromise and decreases your fall damage when your jump height increases. Hopefully this elucidates the concept of fall damage, jump height, and how it relates to Dexterity. Of course, Dexterity has other effects too like increasing ranged damage, which is totally separate from your jump height. Your ranged damage also wont increase from things like Strength or Resistance.

**** ADDRESSING COMMENTS

Some people have said - about the double jump - that the technique isn't as stated in this guide. I want to shed some light on the technique a little bit more to flesh out the details. In this guide, you will run into some words like 'approximate' or 'about'. Usually this word is referring to a level of uncertainty to the actual value in question. So, for example, if your Dexterity was really high, your single jump (and by extension double jump) would be really high. I'd say something like, if you Dexterity is 40, your jump height is approximately 12, or something. That is just a random guess, but I'm just saying your jump height could be 11.8, or 12.2, something like that.

Press the space bar again approximately 0.25 seconds after your single jump to perform a double jump (45% success rate for me). During the single or double jump you can change directions. You can't ordinarily do this in real life as there's no way to control your movement mid-air without significantly moving the air around you in some way.

The space bar may not be the jump button in your configuration. The space bar is the default jump button when using keyboard and mouse, which does not include those using a gamepad. The space bar will not work on the game pad for jumping since the game pad does not include a space bar key. The game manual should have the correct button to jump - there may even be some game pads with space bars, I'm not sure.

I hope you enjoyed this guide and that this guide lets you reach new heights.
