Equipment Capture Ratio 20% + More

Description
The main purpose of this mod is to give a universal baseline equipment capture rate of 20%, meaning every nation starts with this as a minimum and can then increase it more with maintenance companies, leader traits, focuses and so on. I created it as I think it makes no sense for all guns after a battle to just disappear into thin air when in reality nations would usually make at least some effort to collect them, even if they don't intend to use them, so they aren't reused by the enemy or civilians and such. And why would you let perfectly good rifles collect rust anyway when you can just pick them up? I think this is a good balance between realism and gameplay while not allowing you to rely fully on captured equipment and also still gives plenty of room for nations to specialize in capturing equipment like Finland or, historically, Germany.

It also adds the following effects:

  • Capturing 35% of equipment from enemy nation's fielded divisions on annexation, up from 25%
  • Capturing 35% of enemy's fuel stores on annexation, up from 25%
  • Capturing 25% of enemy's convoys on annexation, up from 15%
  • Capturing 75% of enemy's stockpiled equipment on capitulation, up from 50% (please note the difference between annexing and capitulating, this is the equipment popup you get right when they surrender)
  • Capturing 67% of enemy's fuel on capitulation, up from 50% (lower to simulate it being easier for enemy troops to burn or spill fuel so it doesn't get captured)
  • Chance to capture an enemy railway gun when overran is 40%, up from 20%. It used to be 30% but it turns out that the capture ratio of a division influences this number, I assume by adding onto it, so I've removed the increase. This should mean that the mod's base capture ratio of 20% combines with vanilla railway gun capture chance of 20% to make 40%.

This mod should be compatible with literally ANYTHING that doesn't change those specific few things. Very few other mods exist that edit these files and are up to date to my knowledge, just don't use any of them and you're fine.

This mod was created mainly for my own personal taste in what I want from this sort of mod so the numbers have been tailored as I wanted. If you would like to edit the numbers to suit your own taste, simply go into the files for this mod and edit the numbers "0.XX" to be whatever percentage you would like, so for example 0.5 would be 50%. This file can be found at SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/394360/3051108307/common/defines and then click on the only file in there. Be aware that if I update that file, your changes will be deleted when you download the update. I'll try not to do that.

I've noticed that using equipment capture mods like this influences the AI wars to be more dynamic and interesting. The defender holds on longer and sometimes makes comebacks that they wouldn't have otherwise, as the extra equipment prevents the AI from burning through their weapons as easily. On the other hand, an attacker that wins battles a lot may get a bit of extra steam from subsisting on what they acquire and not needing reinforcement so much.

Also be aware that this mod will likely cause the international market to be somewhat more swamped with nations selling a few of rifles and whatever else they capture in combat, there's no easy way to get around that so I suggest using the filter buttons in the market GUI or just ignoring them. And besides most of the AI market spam is from them buying and reselling equipment they don't actually need.

Finally, this may cause issues for people without No Step Back which adds the railway gun, please let me know if so.

@boxing boblol Just tested in game and it worked for me. You might have gotten a mod conflict which is rare but does happen, some mods will bury in a change to equipment capture ratio to the point that it's hard to tell sometimes

does it work still? for me it doesnt

@Insaneworld okay thanks. I'll test it out. If II remember properly, I wasn't using any other mods when I played this the first time.

@fyreomc Sorry for the very late follow up but I finally just got my game to work on 1.15 and I tested the mod. It still works, I even made sure by fighting a battle. I'm not sure what's going on with yours but most likely a mod conflict or something else on your end, if it's still happening. And you don't need to go through a whole playthrough to test it, you can just look at the stats of a division, at worst you might need to pass like a day for it to show up. I'm gonna "update" it by changing the version number to 1.15 but that's all.

@fyreomc I'll look into it soon, I'm not sure what the cause would be but hopefully I can figure it out tomorrow or this week at least.

I Just finished a Poland play through and my equipment capture is still only 15 with all 4 maintenance techs. So I think that it just doesn't work on the new patch

@fyreomc Try letting a bit of time pass if you haven't already, for some reason it only appears as 20% after a bit of time in my experience
