Audax-class Destroyer

Based on the same family of hull as the Haste-class corvette but designed to fill a heavier, direct-combat role compared to the similar Blue-class destroyer, the Audax sacrifices some landing utility for extra guns and armor. Able to operate alone or in a squadron for attack, patrol, or picket duty.

Author note: I have been on a quest for the perfect destroyer for years and wasn't quite satisfied by the look or durability of the previous Blue-class. I redesigned an entirely new mid section that is tougher, cleaner, and more consistent with the 'official blue team' design language while adding side turret pods similar to those on my Durango-class cruiser and Onager-class battleship. To do this, I had to sacrifice the landing gear, ventral airlock, and gravity-well capability of the ship. Either way, I'm quite happy with the result and feel it bridges the gap better between the Haste-family and the Durango-class cruiser.

Namesake: Named after the Latin word for 'bold'
