[RWI] - Defender-class Refit (2023)

Presenting the RWI Defender-class MKii Defense Frigate

Hi everyone,

With the updates to Space Engineers for the 10th Anniversary and beyond, I thought now would be the perfect time to update a long-standing and legendary ship of my fleet. While the Defender-class is rather simple in design, that is intended so that it aligns with my faction lore in Space Engineers.

This is the same type of Defender-class people have seen for some time now in recent YouTube series. This version is just an updated version of the outdated style. The ship is essentially the same, but takes the place of the older one we have seen on screen and in-game before. Going forward in new cinematic content, you’ll see more of this one. Even better, a new airlock is present!

As a reminder These RWI ships are made for cinematic and RP content, therefore do not expect them to fully work in Survival-gameplay environments.

The RWI Defender-class is highly regarded as an iconic and legendary starship class from Redwood Industries. This Defence Frigate is well known for its role in “The Great War” and “The Green Drone Wars”. Now, with a new interest in rebuilding Redwood and securing our boarders, an updated design was called for.

Taking the hull and design of the already modern Defender-class MKii provided a new stepping stone. A freshly updated interior and more efficient weapon emplacements means this frigate is ready for any engagement. An upgraded and reinforced hull means modern Refit Defender-class ships can operate independently away from battle groups or fleets.

The upgrades to the Defender-class Refit keep the same general shape and style of the original design but improve on it via what has been mentioned above. New access points for crew and supplies will lead to faster deployment times as we combat new threats and deal with the ever expanding final frontier.

the shape might be similar to older ships but its still sparkling new.

@captain jack Well if you won't, I might try my hand at building a copy myself. If i do so, would it be okay if I posted one to the workshop (With a reference link to here)?
(Would also love you to take a look at it but that's just because I'm a fan and you're the reason I play SE)
