[SP/CO-02] Scorched Earth

Description
This is a short CQB training mission used to help you practice your MOUT tactics, either alone or as part of a buddy pair. The mission isn't designed to take you more than about 15 minutes to complete alone, and far less if you're playing with a buddy.

IMPORTANT As of the latest version of this mission, it is possible to select your loadout from a number of preset loadouts (let me know if you want any others) using the action menu (middle mouse) at your spawn point. By default you'll start with a KRISS Super-V (Vector) but you can select from a bunch of modded and unmodded weapons. (Obviously the modded ones will only work if you've got the relevant mods installed)

No Mods Version

Introduction
The AAF forces on Stratis have been accused on numerous occasions of comitting war crimes against the local civilian populous, however in almost every case they have been meticulous in their clean ups - leaving us nothing by the way of evidence on which to persecute them. One of our forward reconisance teams reported AAF troop moments around the town of Agia Marina yesterday evening and, while we suspect the worst, we have tasked your squad to investigate.

Your mission briefing is as follows, you are to approach Agia Marina from the North East, set up an observation post and determine the reason for the AAF's troop placements. If it is found that they have comitted another of these atrocities, you will be tasked with sending them a message.

Briefing
Your squad will move to point Heineken and set up an observation post from which you will observe enemy troop movements. Standard Rules of Engagement are in force - so don't shoot until you receive clearance and keep out of sight. The last thing we need is an international incident.

About
This mission started out as a quick challenge a friend of mine and I would play, just drop a couple of enemy soldiers in a village, drop us on the outskirts and see who could get the most kills before the village was clear. We've had countless hours of fun playing it, but keep in mind that this isn't really a story mission but rather a quick challenge to help train your CQB skills.

If you've got any ideas for things you'd like to see added, please feel free to let me know in the comments. Obviously, I'd like to keep this mission short and accessible, so asking for a longer insertion/plot/more objectives is not on the agenda. Things like allowing selectable loadouts, VAS or having enemy AI garrisoned within buildings though... Well, let's just see what you guys want.

Required Mods
This mission uses the following mods, which are required in order to work correctly. If you try playing it without them you'll need to grab a firearm from one of the EI. All these mods are available in the Steam workshop, so you shouldn't have any issues getting them.

- HLC Core
- HLC AR15 Pack
- ASDG Joint Rail

If you aren't in the mood to download any mods then take a look at the Mod Free Version which has been specifically tailored to work as well as possible without the AAC Honeybadger.

Nice quick mission. Had a couple of bugs - first time I started the game, I was stuck on the map with no way to (re)spawn, but starting the server again fixed it.

Hey everyone, if you could please switch over to the (previously) mod free version (which now includes optional support for the HLC AR15 Pack) - I won't be updating this version anymore. Sorry for the inconvinience, and I hope you'll like the changes that have been made to the latest version. Link For Your Convinience

Haha, no worries at all, and yeah - the workshop shows 5 stars for the top 3 missions of the week on the games page, if you want to see their actual ranking (which is based on the number of up votes rather than ratio of good-to-bad) then you need to visit the workshop itself.

As for making it bigger/longer - doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having a quick mission you can practice with? Don't get me wrong, I love playing the odd longer mission, but sometimes I just don't have an hour to throw away, so I enjoy having shorter ones to fill the gaps that 20 minute series would otherwise ;)

Hey Blinky, to be honest it was never really intended to be a long mission, more something that you can have fun challenging your friends with or practicing a bit of CQB. As for the choice of gun, I've found that it's smaller size (and corresponding lower moment of inertia) combined with the stopping power of the 300 BLK lends itself better to the kind of stealthy CQB playstyle I enjoy - though I realize it's not for everyone (hence the no-mods version which makes use of the Vector instead).

hmmm complete it in 17 min with 1 restart .....
Very basic really...
Downloading about 300mb mods just to have a gun that not in Arma basic included...
Nothing special kind of gun....
Good Job anyway, didnt have any bug or something but you have to make it bigger ^^
