Description
[For 3.11+ and now compatible with almost all future versions!]

Welcome to More Picks & Points "FLEX EDITION"
This is the Flex Edition of "More Picks & Points: Traits|Civics|Ethics" older versions, or just MPP. This edition offers you the freedom to customize the mod settings without manually editing any files, thanks to our new (optional) Flex(ible) Script tool. Just download it and run it.

(Note: "Flex" in this edition stands for "Flexible" and not any other possible meaning. The goal is to provide customization options, not to imply anything else.)

• MOD DESCRIPTION •
This mod provides players (and NPCs) with expanded freedom and realism when creating a new empire. It offers increased trait points, ethics, and civic picks. Whether you're looking to craft a unique civilization or simply experiment with different combinations, this mod enhances the Stellaris empire-building experience by increasing the diversity of alien species and ecosystems, improving biological realism.

Vanilla Values:
- ETHOS_MAX_POINTS: 3
- GOVERNMENT_CIVIC_POINTS_BASE: 2
- Machine Trait Points: 1
- Biological Trait Points: 2
- Max Machine Traits: 5
- Max Biological Traits: 5

Standard (Mod Default Preset) Values:
- ETHOS_MAX_POINTS: 5
- GOVERNMENT_CIVIC_POINTS_BASE: 5
- Machine Trait Points: 4
- Biological Trait Points: 5
- Max Machine Traits: 8
- Max Biological Traits: 8

Custom Values:
With flexScript[github.com], you can freely customize these values to your preference.

• WHAT'S NEW IN THE FLEX EDITION? •
The FLEX EDITION introduces a revolutionary way to tweak the mod's settings. With the flexScript[github.com] (FS), you can:
  • Set the mod to vanilla default values.
  • Use the standard or beast presets (similar to the previous STANDARD and BEAST editions).
  • Fully customize the points and picks to your liking.
  • Prepare MPP for server gameplay.
FS is open source and was developed in Python. You can easily check its code in our GitHub repository.

• HOW TO USE THE FLEXSCRIPT •
  1. Download the latest release from the Releases Page[github.com].
  2. Follow the instructions in the Readme.md file at flexScript[github.com].
  3. Run the script and follow the on-screen prompts to customize your mod settings.

• HOW TO UPDATE MPP •
With FS, you don’t have to wait for the mod to be updated—you can update it yourself whenever Stellaris gets a new version. That’s one of the main reasons this script was developed. Just follow these steps:
  1. Run FS and let it check all folders and files to ensure everything is in place.
  2. Choose option 6: UPDATE. If you're in SERVER MODE, deactivate it before proceeding.
  3. Wait for the update to complete: This may take a few moments, so please be patient.

• EASIER MULTIPLAYER SETUP •
Hosting a multiplayer game with friends? FS simplifies the process! FS's new server mode ensures that all players have identical mod settings, reducing the risk of desyncs or compatibility issues. Just run FS in server mode, and it will handle the rest, making your multiplayer experience seamless and enjoyable. Remember to test your online games after customization, and let us know if you encounter any issues. Read more about this process in the Readme[github.com].
Happy gaming!

• WARNING •
Please note that this mod also alters the picks and point limits for NPC Empires. This is not intended to function as a Cheat Mod. Instead, these changes enhance the diversity of traits across different species and empires, both player-created and AI-controlled. This affects game balance and may make the game harder or easier depending on the species you create.

• COMPATIBILITY •
This mod is compatible with Stellaris 3.11+. The STANDARD, BEAST, and LITE versions are no longer maintained. Instead, all features have been integrated into this FLEX EDITION for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, making maintenance easier and more autonomous.

• KNOWN ISSUES •
  • Occasionally, running FS might trigger Windows Defender due to its interaction with mod files and Stellaris installation. Rest assured, this script is safe, and you can verify its harmless nature by checking the code on our GitHub repository, it's open-source.
  • Some mod incompatibilities may arise when using other mods that modify trait points, ethics, or civics. More details are provided in the Compatibility section above.
  • There's a known issue with the "Tactical Algorithms" civic for machine empires that may prevent leader trading. We are investigating this and working on a fix. In the meantime, if you encounter this issue, avoid using this civic if you need to trade leaders.

thats the odd part, i loaded it without any other mods. even deleted and redownloaded stellaris convinced it had to be something interfering within the files, i got it to load a couple times but upon clicking 'species traits' it crashes then wont load back up without crashing unless i delete Flexscript. super weird

I tried this mod out and while it does work, for some reason the 00_defines.txt file has the entire contents of the vanilla version of that file, instead of just the ethics picks/points changes? I can't help but ask why that's the case, when the older versions of this mod didn't do that.

Wholesale copying over the entire vanilla 00_defines.txt file will torpedo this mod's compatibility with other mods, can I ask that that be fixed?

ffs! I'm really sorry for youbad experience with FlexScript (fs).
I will take that in account for the next update I promess. But I need to at least try to replicate your problem.
Could you please resume what the problem is in: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/workshop/filedetails/discussion/3038118849/5966762781879865589/
please? Because everytime I update flexscript I read the comments there. Here I lose the history really quick.

That error 13 permission denied maybe can be fixed by running FS with admin perms
dnceleets 27 Aug @ 2:58pm
also i won't be trying to run it again as doing so broke all my custom empires and now i have to remake them all
dnceleets 27 Aug @ 2:55pm
I did already figure out it was one of the mods adding more civics and govt things to the game overwriting your mod's changes, for the life of me i can't figure out *why* it does that regardless of where i put it in irony, but i used the patcher to just change that mods value to what i want. I had to manually change species archetype defines in its folder to get those changes

As for trying with only flex i did get something new that i definitely didn't before, error 13 permission denied. Hope that helps

@dnceleets
Hi! flexscript author and mod co-author here!
Can you retry those steps but only with the MPP mod active please?
