Description
    DESCRIPTION
  • This version of the Cessna 208 Grandcaravan is the classic one, being able to land on asphalt or grass surfaces, It does its job very well also on stormworks, as it is easy to drive and with high autonomy. It also has an Automatic Landing System that allows you to land, in all weather conditions also increasing its effectiveness during its use, ensuring a landing in conditions where it would not normally land.

  • The Cessna 208 Grandcaravan is a Executive aircraft that was first produced in 1984. It was designed to be easy to fly and very reliable. Many pilots use it for training, but it's also a great choice for short-haul travel. It has Turbo-Prop Engine that allows it to fly at a maximum speed of around 160 knots. In addition, the Cessna 208 features a large cockpit and good visibility, making it very comfortable to drive.

AUTOLANDING
  • This aircraft is equipped with an automatic landing system that allows it to land in any weather conditions of low visibility such as fog, heavy rain or night. However, it does not counter strong gusts of wind very well, so it is advised not to land in strong wind conditions to avoid accidents.

  • The auto landing is formed by two systems, the control panel that activates the system and the autothrottle and the navigation radio thanks to which we can enter the frequency of the airport which is like a code that indicates which airport we want to land on.

  • To land automatically you must first enter the airport frequency into the navigation radio, wich is the one lowest on the radio panel. subsequently, once the frequency has been set, some information will be shown in the PFD and in the local dials such as the DME and HDG for the airport, furthermore you will have to be more or less in front of the Runway to help the system land. otherwise if autoland is activated in an inconvenient situation for the plane such as above the airport, the latter will go crazy and end very badly.

once aligned with the Correct Runway strip you will need to press the autoland button and at 2NM of DME activate the Autothrottle, when the aircraft reaches 0.5NM of DME on its own the OM Marker will sound which indicates that the landing will end soon and furthermore the throttle will automatically be raised to 15% if the auto throttle is engaged.

It is possible to make an automatic landing even without the automatic throttle but you will obviously have to manage the throttle manually by bringing the aircraft to 115 knots.

VOR NAVIGATION
  • VOR navigation is based on ground radio stations which, being nav aids, guide the pilot thanks to special frequencies which transmit the heading towards which the station is located.

  • Thanks to this we can make Landings in any weather condition by aligning ourselves with the course of the VOR which must be the same as the HEADING of the runway and following a precise Glide path to find ourselves descending towards the runway and see the lights just before touch with the wheels.

  • This is possible given by the SIR MURTAK addon, which has for each island that is a point of interest a VOR station for civil aircraft or TACAN for military aircraft.

  • Here is the Addon! TACAN-VOR ADDON

NOTES
  • If you want to use the VOR system you have to use the addon above at the same time.

  • It may be difficult to reach the hood given the increased scale of the vehicle.

  • If possible, avoid leaving the battery alone too long without having started the engine, this leads to a discharge of the battery.
