Please play these people's mods and give them some love. They put so much work into their projects, it's a crime not to play them.

Play through the campaign not as the Master Chief, but as the many infantry members of the UNSC. This ranges from the old Orion Cyborgs to the ODSTs to even the basic bog standard UNSC Marine. Fair warning, this mod is HARD. The Pillar of Autumn is the only easy mission to play through, from there you are going to feel what it's like to be a basic member of the infantry during the Human-Covenant War.

It is recommended that you play this on Normal. Heroic and Legendary are for only the strongest of wills.

This mod is a third/first person hybrid. Certain weapons will be in different views based on how their scopes functions.

Enjoy your standard issue Assault Rifle and Shotgun. These are gonna be some of your best friends Marine, so you'd best get aquainted.

Again, this mod is designed to be HARD and borderline unfair. The Pillar of Autumn will be your only easy mission. The Flood are your worst enemy. Godspeed, and I wish you all luck.

I just got done beating Library on legendary solo with no radar, half ammo enemy drops, and enemies more likely to throw grenades
This took 1 full hour of scouting everything out getting out of bounds and then 3 full hours to do the run.
Please for the love of all that is holy people if you value your sanity... do library with a friend....

This mod has been tremendous fun paired with the splitscreen mod! Been playing 4 player local co-op! Utter nightmare when you get to the flood missions but everything else is great lol. Covies are givin it their best shot... but they didn't count on runnin' into the biggest squad of Marine BAD-ASSES in the Corps!

Would it be possible to make a version of the mod where you only play as an ODST throughout the campaign? Or if someone can point me to a guide on how to edit the files to do that myself I'd be thankful.

I have a weird idea... can you make a mod where you can play as Colonial Marine? You know? Those from Aliens. On board of the Sulaco... still against the Covenant of course but... as a Colonial Marine.
I really don't know how to mod Halo games. But should be feasable to modify the models of the Marines to look like the Aliens Colonial Marines? Included a variant of the MA5B to be like a M41A pulse rifle...

I have to look if that's possible.

I see. I played another mod that had you play as as an elite in third person to assassinate captain Keys on the Autumn and it had the exact same issues too with most of the weapons working fine when standing, but going way off center when you crouched. It also had the same issues as this mod with the plasma weapon projectiles landing to the left of the crosshair even while standing, perhaps the needler was also like that, but the needler has it's guided rounds so it's far less of an issue. So, definitely some kind of issue with third person in CE itself it would seem, and with the flinching when shot and grenade throwing animations Ah well, if all the other marine campaigns are fine in that department I can put up with it for one game.

@Branzor Only really an issue in CE from my experience. Unlike just about every other weapon in the base game, the assault rifle looked quite bad with the bullets coming out the way they did, hence the change. Most marine mods, or at least certainly not anything else I've made, has been so aggressive in the change to how the weapon's firing works.

Came to ask about the projectiles you fire not lining up with your crosshair in third person, especially when crouched, but saw you mentioned it actually comes from the muzzle, so I'm guessing that it's an issue of the animations not lining up the muzzle line in the exact same way for every animation. Shall I also assume that having the rounds come directly from your face or the camera like the master chief has already been tried, but looks extremely bad in third person? The reticle not lining up with your shots with some weapons and while crouched is pretty much my only issue with the mod, is this also an issue with all of the third person marine mods in the other games by modders?. If so :(
