"In my restless dreams,
I see that town.

Silent Hill."

Greetings fellow survivors! I present the begginings of a large, rather ambitious hobby project of mine.

------------------------------------------
EmilieBat92's Silent Hill Ambient Overhaul
------------------------------------------

I have been working on some ways to bring Silent Hill to Knox County!

My playstyle is of the Solo/Splitscreen flavor, you know... modded and seeded Zomboids with a splash of sprinters, full of dread, creeping around, total helplessness... So with that said...

I find that the color palette, sound, and music design is great! However, it just didnt quite give me the right vibe for when I am creeping in a blacked out house awaiting thumps at my windows and doors. So I descided to breathe life back into the Silent Hill side of the Project Zomboid modding scene.

I have been creating a list of sound, music, texture and image replacement mods that pair nicely together to convert Project Zomboid into a Silent Hill inspired aesthetic.

I aim to create a dynamic, lightweight set of mods that allow users to pick and choose which mods are being downloaded so as to save of bloat and to cut down on confusion.

*NOTICES & DISCLAIMERS*
-Due to the fact that these mods target and replace files instead of injecting new scripts like most other mods, there are a few things to consider. ~"Not only will my mod scare you, but the installation process will too!"~ jkjk xD

*THIS IS A STANDALONE PART OF A SERIES TO ALLOW OPTIONS AND TO SAVE ON BANDWIDTH FOR METERED OR SLOW CONNECTIONS*

*This mod will require you to manually install files into your ProjectZomboid Steam directory after subscribing!*
(Due to the limitations of the interactions between the Steam Workshop and the game's modding pipeline, I cannot currently automate this process.)

*SUBSCRIBING ONLY GIVES YOU THE FILES! You must install the mod manually after backing up your game files!*
(Failure to do so will not allow you to uninstall the mod without re-downloading the source game files again.)

!*WHAT THIS MOD DOES*!
----------------------

Applies a Silent Hill inspired visual filter for Project Zomboid via ReShade.

This mod include files for...
* A lightweight OpenGL ReShade Preset (5.8.0 or Newer) and a Look-Up table for color grading
* Default Reshade LUT
* Manual adjustment for the LUT in the form of a Photoshop PSD Mod Resource file

!*WHAT THIS MOD DOSEN'T DO*!
----------------------------

THIS MOD DOES NOT...
*Install automatically after subscribing in the Steam Workshop
*Include any other mods made by me or others listed and or featured in screenshots, just the mod listed in this part only!
*Include any ReShade installation, binaries or shader files.
*Require any other mods in the workshop to function. Only an external installation of ReShade is required. (5.8.0 or Newer)
*Automatically uninstall after unsubscribing or disabling the mod.

!*COMPATIBILITY*!
-----------------
This mod can be used along side any other mod!
*Any future issues will be posted here.

*NEW*
MULTIPLAYER BUG - Black screen when effects turn off due to ReShade's built-in Anti-Cheat in MP servers - Reported by SoliOtario *confirmed*
There are builds of ReShade (mostly behind Patreons that I have found) that are for personal offline use only and for non competitive games. I would suggest going that route possibly this is kinda out of my hands unfortunately.

!*HOW TO INSTALL*!
-----------------
You must have first installed a copy of Reshade for PZ BEFORE copying over the mod files so...

!*If you DO NOT have ReShade Installed already*!

*ReShade Step 1*
Download ReShade
*Due to ReShade's licensing policy I cannot compile the program within this mod I can only direct you to a link*
https://reshade.me/

*ReShade Step 2*
Install Reshade by navigating to where you downloaded the ReShade setup tool exe and opening it.

*ReShade Step 3*
SCROLL and CLICK on "ProjectZomboid64.exe" within the setup window within the populated list of games ReShade locates automatically...
OR
CLICK "Browse" and navigate to the exe manually.
steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\ProjectZomboid64.exe
(or ProjectZomboid32.exe if you use the 32bit version, untested with this mod so your miles may vary)

*ReShade Step 4*
- CLICK the OpenGL option for the rendering API.
- CLICK "Next"

*ReShade Step 5*
CLICK skip when it asks for a preset.
(This will allow you to add a preset afterwards to avoid compatibility issues)

*ReShade Step 6*
- CLICK "unCheck all" when it asks to select effect packages.
- CLICK the same button that now says "Check all"
- SCROLL down the list and UNCHECK "Legacy effects"
- CLICK "Next"
(This will allow you to use, adjust, add or change the effects provided by reShade)

*ReShade Step 7*
-CLICK "Finish"

!*If you have ReShade Installed already*!

*MOD Step 1*
Locate the mod folder.
steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\?SteamID?\mods\EMSHAO_01_Reshade&LUT

*MOD Step 2*
Copy the "reshade-shaders" folder and "ReShadePreset.ini" file within the mod directory.

*MOD Step 3*
Paste and overwrite any files in the the game's root directory
steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\

That's it!
Boot the game, wait for the shaders to compile, skip the tutorial, assign any effect toggle keys you need, make any adjustments you want, click the X on the window or press HOME and...

ENJOY!

steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\
DELETE the "reshade-shaders" folder and "ReShadePreset.ini" file within the mod directory if there are still there after the uninstall.

*You can unsubscribe to the mod after this step safely*

!*POSSIBLE FUTURE PLANS*!
----------------
*NEW* :(
*Work on the rest of the overhaul project if/when my life gets put back together and on track, and if i'm still playing then...
(Part 2: Dynamic Music Replacement, Part 3: Pick&Choose Sound Replacement, Part 4: AuD's add Sounds effects to Item Action Silent Hill UI Sound Patch, Part 5: Pick&Choose Text and Icon Replacement, Part 6: Main Menu Background and Logo Replacement)

*Look for fellow modders to help and that understand LUA better than me to help develop a Pyramid Head boss.
(A special Zomboid Mob Meta event encounter that randomly spawns as a horde leader during certain conditions)

*Silent Hill Map Expansion
(To possibly include all of the locations from silent hill Origins, SH1, SH2, SH3, and Homecoming, with the possibility of elements from Downpour and Shattered Memories)

I'm having the same issue suzinistherealjuno commented about in april of last year. I can't see characters in the character creation screen, it gives me errors when i try to edit the character, and it forces me to quit whenever i try to make a world! I must have botched the setup or smth, but i'm so sure that i did it right! :spiffo::cherrypie:

@soggy I truly am sorry that ReShade is being a meanie :(
I do hope after some time you can get it to work in the end.

yeah it comes with 32 and 64, i tried using reshade on both, nothing, also no i am installing on B41, i tried watching a youtube guide and they just told me everything the instructions on this page told me, i guess ill have to deal with it, thanks.
EmilieBat92  [author] 8 May @ 2:48pm
@soggy Hmmm it may be... I am still using 5.9.2
Does your game come with a 32 bit and a 64 bit exe? maybe you are clicking the wrong one?
Are you installing on b41 or b42? I have not tested a clean install on B42 just yet as my ReShade installation carried over when I migrated to the unstable build. I know this may not be super helpful but maybe you can follow an install guide on YouTube or another third party source?

i installed an older 5.8.0 reshader version and still nothin, may be a me problem
soggy 8 May @ 8:24am
yes, the reshade notification doesnt appear at all when i boot up the game and i cant go to reshade gui neither, also yes i picked opengl, dont know whats causing that...
EmilieBat92  [author] 7 May @ 8:47pm
@Torrinfell It does not it is/was a part of a Silent Hill Font mod that I never released for B41 I had went into hiatus on the rest of the overhaul in waiting for B42 and naturally they messed with the fonts so I couldn't just drag and drop. The mod I made for B41 had some minor issues and I haven't gotten around to fixing it. :\
Torrinfell 7 May @ 7:59pm
Does this mod change the game's font to that from Silent Hill as well? Judging by the screenshots it looks like it does
EmilieBat92  [author] 7 May @ 3:50pm
@soggy sorry to hear that ReShade is giving you problems. :\
Did you make sure to use the Opengl installation?
I have not used an updated ReShade for a while it could be having issues with PZ?
Just to be clear you are not seeing ReShade pull up at all when you boot the game correct?
