Survivors Start Prepared

Description
NOTE: A pop up about a Mod error may show when starting a new game. This is simply a warning that IF you experience unwanted behavior then to try disabling mods. It is from this mod and I haven't found a way to fix it, but I haven't seen any issues arise despite the message so far and this mod still works as far as I can tell.


Using Mod Options you can choose for your Survivors to start with somewhat randomized guns and/or tools. Tool selection is based on their best skill and guns will be assigned based on combat skill levels.

This mod also overwrites the Random Survivors game rule so that it only randomizes survivors and does not equip them with any weapons at all.

Make sure that you make your selections in the Mod Options menu from the Main Menu prior to starting a new game.

Hi, I love this mod. Just one small point, I was looking at the code (I'm not a modder, but I'm nosy and like to see how things work!).

It seems you have it set that survivors with low Combat skill but Interested in Combat should have a medium weapon. This doesn't seem to occur, i.e Sora and Umayr always get a standard Pulse Rifle.

I hear you. I generally avoid the lua scripting side of things if I can at all when making mods. Not because I don't know how to, but because it takes more time (for me at least) and I mainly only mod to tweak things for my own game, so the less time I can spend on the mod, the more time I can spend actually playing.

I looked into it and got sorta stuck on that but since they're pacifist they never actually use it so I just left it for now. I need to get better with my Lua/scripting and this game has been helping but I haven't had the time/energy to dig deeper lately.

Glad you got it back on the visibility list. This is one of my goto mods. One thing I'd like to ask though, have you considered adjusting it so it doesn't equip weapons on Combat-restricted survivors? Like folks who have the pacifist trait.

Not a big deal either way, the weapon just sits in their equipment slot, unused, until it decays when they get one.

I see you did an update, but the game still throws an error related to this mod when starting a NEW game. The message comes up on screen as a popup "Warning: Mod-related Problem detected in the game logic. Try disabling the mods in case of unexpected game behaviour".

Just a head's up, this mod is throwing a LUA error in the game logs as of today's update.

Nice overhaul.

I really liked the original mod and was aghast when it disappeared (the game told me the mod was gone on loading a save). Glad to see it had a successor.

I almost always use the "Random Survivors" rule, for the sake of the randomness not the free sniper rifles. This mod (and its predecessor) is perfect for my preferences.
