Welcome to John Is Famous, a love letter to the creator of Kyle Is Famous (and now My Friendly Neighborhood!), John Szymanski.

I did a LOT of digging into John Szymanski's game development life for this adventure. I guess I'm obsessed, if that wasn't clear before. Hopefully this research shows through!

If you're thinking of taking a completionist route, it's recommended (but not required) to go through my previous Kyle mods before playing this, because there is some (note: not much) continuity with those adventures.
Also for completionists, some content warnings for mentions of suicide, self-harm, and general goreyness. They're there for a reason. I think.

And yes, there's still easter eggs galore. I think I'm getting better at that sort of thing.

This has been something I've been working on for the past month and a half, finally realizing the idea I conceived an entire year and a half ago. I hope you enjoy it!

I'm just one guy, so it's practically impossible for me to proofread and playtest everything. If you encounter a bug, please let me know!

(P.S., the reason why I said "24+" in the header is because a few endings have minor (sometimes completely new) alternate paths depending on the situation. Do check out the ending to see what paths you may have missed!

UPDATE 7/18/23: Oops! Added some minor quality of life changes to some sections, and fixed the tone of some segments. I'll probably continue to tone-correct sections as time progresses, since I'm walking a fine line with...
UPDATE 7/18/23: Tweaked the wording of one of the good endings.
UPDATE 7/26/23: In lieu of a proper inventory, I've decided to make it very explicit when you gain and lose items.
UPDATE 7/28/23: Added something new backstage. Also added more text to one of the endings.
UPDATE 7/31/23: Added the Laser Claymore.
UPDATE 8/10/23: Completely reworked a section, because it just wasn't sitting right in my gut.
UPDATE 1/20/24: Reverted back to the original section that was reworked above.
UPDATE 4/7/24: Removed 1 ending. It's been irking me for months, and I finally understand why. I'll bring it back if I'm able to rewrite the entire thing, which might never happen.
UPDATE 4/8/24: Tentatively bringing it back; I still regret what I've made, but I made so much for it that I'd rather keep it around in some form. I'll still rewrite it at some point, though.
UPDATE 6/13/24: Added more directly relevant MFN content, now that I actually played the game recently.
UPDATE 6/15/24: Added a few alerts when you're approaching routes with permanent effects on the game.
UPDATE 7/1/24: BIG UPDATE!!! Big big update. Ok so basically, besides bug fixing and typoes, I:
-Added a few lategame interactions with the game store.
-Added MORE interrogations.
-Added MORE sacrifices.
-Added an alternate way to get one ending.
-Added more detail to one scene.
-Made a boss fight longer.
-Along with a few other QoL things, and a few anti-QoL things.
UPDATE 7/5/24: Changed a section I forgot to change.
UPDATE 8/2/24: Quick endgame changes.
UPDATE 8/22/24: More changes pretty much exclusively to one ending! Just to make things flow more and provide some accessibility options.
UPDATE 12/21/24: Made content warnings diagetic to the game, with options to view or hide certain heavy descriptions.
UPDATE 3/8/25: Changed the place where you'd encounter content warning options.
UPDATE 4/7/25: Fixed more bugs, added more hints, added more special interactions, and made one ending more interactive overall.
