Hello there! 👋

This is an unofficial fork of the inactive "Media Player" addon.
➡ Goal: Keep Media Player alive, stable, and working for everyone.

Supported services

➡ Out-of-the-box

YouTube (video)
SoundCloud
URL service for:
- WebM videos
- Images (.jpg, .png, .gif)
- Audio (.mp3, .wav, .ogg)

➡ With GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix

YouTube (Live)
TikTok
Dailymotion
Bitchute
Odysee
Twitch livestreams
URL Service for:
- Video (.mp4, .mov, .mkv)
- Cloud Storage (Google Drive)

Quick Setup Guide

➡ Windows
Works out-of-the-box.
For more services (YouTube Live, TikTok, Twitch, etc.) → use GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix.
Setup Video ➡ Windows (x86-64 BETA is optional)

➡ Others
Requires x86-64 BETA branch + GModPatchTool / GModCEFCodecFix.
Setup Videos ➡ MacOS, Linux or Proton

Notes

Local videos cannot be played directly → upload them online first.
Government restrictions or VPN use may cause videos to fail.
Not compatible with the original addon by Sam. Please uninstall it first.
"Lambda Players" is working, but we don't provide support.

YES "Media Player - Extended Props" WILL WORK WITH THIS ADDON.

Known Issues

Some videos show black/white screen (reason unknown).
Not all TikTok videos work.
YouTube may sometimes not play due to restrictions outside our control.

mediaplayer_proximity_min (default: 100)

@Jdramirez165, 3 things:

1. Have you used the GmodPatchTool?
2. Internet Archive is known to be slow and unreliable at times.
3. Not everything is playable.

Internet Archive works on my end, but I will be revising it soon. My private life takes priority for now, though.

Internet Archive videos won't play, it loads the video UI, & thats it.

would be cool if there was an option to replace the audio with a mono audio thats directional because it feels weird having stereo audio that never changes direction when you look around

Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution for this yet. YouTube is constantly changing things, which just annoys everyone. :/

@𝕝𝕠𝕔𝕜𝕗𝕘𝕗, MKV and MP4 videos work for me on Google Drive. Did you set the visibility to public when creating the link?

Private links don't work!

shadowsun, yes i did get gmodpatchtool, the mkv is just a pure file in google drive, direct link, not even mp4's work...

for some reason this doesn't show up when installed, I'm using Windows and the base version of Gmod, I tried reinstalling it
