Description
You have arrived at a savage warfront between land and sea. In the wake of Carl Denham's unveiling which thrust the legendary Skull Island out of the shrouds of myth, discover what horrors will await you at this doorstep to a menagerie of nightmares.

Description
This map was created as a part of NoahJ456's movie themed June 2023 mapping contest based on Peter Jackson's King Kong as well as the tie-in PS2 game. The map features a Nacht / Bus Depot style minimalist and slightly more hardcore experience. This is my first public map release and was also created somewhat as a personal challenge for myself to see if I could actually finish a map I had started. Given my affinity for the world that Peter Jackson and the team at Weta created, I may expand this map in the future to include content that was cut from this release, as well as potentially attempting to capture different locales of Skull Island.

Small Progress Update (11.01.2024)
Greetings all, I just wanted to quickly give a little update on plans for the map and a small preview of things to come. Yes I am still working on it and am still invested in it, although admittedly I didn't touch it for quite a while. One more major update is planned for this map as I do want to leave it in a good state before I focus my attention on the larger, fully fledged version. This is what you can expect in said update so as to manage expectations:
  • Two, possibly three new playable areas
  • A general overhaul of a lot of the models and textures as well as detailing and layout tweaks
  • A number of new weapons mostly from BF1, some of which are already complete (MARS Automatic, Ribeyrolles M1918, MG08/15 all from BF1 so far)
  • Overhaul to a couple of existing weapons
  • Overhauled easter egg to unlock a number of things in the map, including an actual buyable ending
  • A couple more misc EEs / things originally cut during the contest

this map is soooooo good that it has actual potential to be the best map of the decade, like imagine the possibilities of playing throughout the island like from Percy Jackson's Kong skull island

Couple of more specific details on what to expect:
- The EE / simple objective will unlock PaP yes and a couple of perks for you to buy ( namely Speed Cola, Double Tap, StaminUp, and possibly Mule Kick I haven't decided yet ). The idea behind this is I want to retain the soul of what I ended up going with for the original while aiding things like camping strategies and map traversal but ensuring you still need to keep your wits about you if you want to survive without Juggernog or Quick Revive.

- The inclusion of PaP does mean that every weapon will have an upgraded version which does slow progress down a little since the number of planned weapons has nearly doubled at this point even before the inclusion of PaP but I plan on making all of them viable and worthwhile with some interesting behaviour changes / new features for some.

- I also plan on getting some custom AATs made too to add to this.

- As it stands it turns out the map is now roughly 3-4 times the size it used to be, so considerably more to explore ( not including secret areas too ), and I also intend to add several fast travel points to help traversal.

- I do plan on including a bunch of equipment too like AT grenades, dynamite, bouncing betties / tripwires, signal flares, gas grenades, and improved incendiary grenades too.

- I've also since learned LUA since the map releasing so I'll be making a fully custom and unique HUD designed just for this map ( for which I'm pretty much done with the design side too ).

With all that being said, I've ended up rolling in some of the features that would have been in a so called "full version" because at this point I'm not sure if that would be something I want to persist with, so I guess I'll get this boi done and then decide whether or not I would rather work on something new, for example. Thank you all again for the kind words and I'll get back to it.

But yeah thanks again for the patience and I will post some screenshots of the new areas once I've completed / polished them but still want to keep some level of mystery and exploration going into it so maybe only some of them.

Awesome map! It's also just me but I was wondering with the new update, do you plan on making an EE to unlock PaP? I'm fine with playing on hardcore but at the same time, it would be nice if PaP was an option at least, so you can go for much higher rounds.
