Formed after pre-Ragdolia invaded the desert nation of Kyrat during the Old War long before the modern wars, the People's Republic of Kyrat is an insurgency/paramilitary organisation funded by the nation of Rimakh with the sole objective of liberating former Kyrat territory from Ragdolia's control. The RRA split-off from the PRK early in the modern wars to fulfill their own objectives, however the two factions remain friendly with one another due to their common goals and history.

Because of PRK's status as a state/province of Ragdolia, it is not yet recognised as an actual country by the vast majority of the world except for Rimakh and a few smaller nations. Because of this, the PRK has largely been fighting an uphill battle until rather recently when Rimakh really ramped up their funding and exports to the resistance organisation. Many people are of the belief that Rimakh may find themselves involved in a direct war with Ragdolia at some point in the near future. Rimakh doesn't stop at exporting small arms, uniforms/vests and other commodities to PRK. Rather, they also provide the Kyrati forces with state-of-the-art armoured vehicles fitted with TOW rocket launchers and thick angled armour.

PRK's forces occupy small villages and towns in the deserts of Ragdolia-occupied Kyrat, which sometimes find themselves the perfect place for RNA forces to engage in shootouts with locals, as well as straight up executing captured Kyratis in the streets. Though, Kyrat isn't innocent either considering their high number of civillians killed. The MaD2-verse has no true 'good guy' faction, and it never will.
