Description
The Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic was an administrative subdivision of the Soviet Union which existed from 1940 until 1991. This map attempts to faithfully recreate Estonia sometime around 1960 in roughly 1:22 scale using height map data.

There are four large eastern crossings. These border crossings represent most of Estonia's major inter-regional checkpoints and include the primary rail linkages plus plenty of power connections. There are both eastern and western maritime borders. The flat low-lying areas found primarily in the western region of the map represent Estonia’s network of major bogs.

Estonia is primarily an agricultural region but a significant uranium and oil shale industry exists in the northeast between Rakvere and Narva. The deposit of rock this industry is based on, the kukersite, is one of the world’s highest grade deposits but is not rich in other heavy metals. Estonia has relied on this resource for power for decades, so for game balance reasons it has been treated as a source of both medium grade oil and coal. The uranium resources led to the establishment of a mining and refining complex at Sillamäe during Soviet rule. Estonia does not engage in significant commercial iron mining, but geological studies have shown the existence of a large magnetic anomaly along the coast of the Western island of Hiiumaa. Bauxite is not present in Estonia, but some has been added to the southeast where some quarries exist for game balance reasons.

Soviet economic development in Estonia was primarily focused on industry in the oil-shale region of the northeast. Major industrial projects included the aforementioned complex at Sillamäe, extensive mines near Kohtla-Järve, and the Kreenholm textile complex in Narva (at one point one of the largest in the Soviet Union). Estonia had two major power generation facilities and a major oil pipeline to supply Leningrad. Most of the remainder of the economy was concentrated on agriculture and timber although there was also a significant tourism industry based around Tallinn.

This map is an agricultural paradise with extensive flat land and easy access to water, but outside of the northeast, the development of significant industry will likely prove challenging. Can you successfully leverage fossil fuel resources to fund imports from the rest of the Soviet Union or will you try and pursue regional self-sufficiency or even perhaps engage in maritime trade with the West?

TLDR: I want to try out realistic mode and I figure a simple/flat map will help the learning curve.
