JGR Class 1240 Steam Locomotive

The JGR Class 1240 (originally the Shingu Railway Class 4) is a 0-6-0T Switcher-type side tank steam locomotive operated by the Japanese Government Railways from 1919 to 1936.

The Class 1240 was an early steam locomotive operated in Japan. The type was ordered by the Fuji Minobu Railway and Kōsaka Railway, with six locomotives built by Baldwin Locomotive Works. The locomotives was assigned the Class 1 on the Fuji Minobu Railway and numbered 1 through 3 and numbered 2 through 4 on the Kōsaka Railway. What would later be christened the Class 1240 was a single locomotive built for the Shingu Railway in 1919, also by Baldwin. The locomotive was classified the Class 3 and numbered 4 on the railroad.

There are one locomotive preserved and operating today in Meijimura Museum as No.9 Locomotive.
Baldwin's model number for this locomotive was 6-18-D.

1. Put some coal into firebox
   
2. Push Ignitor button.
   
3. Wait for the boiler to make some steam.
   
4. The safety valve will automatically prevents boiler from exploding if pressure is bigger than 12kg/cm2 (9 as in-game unit).
   
5. Use Injector to inject water into the boiler.
   
6. Set Reverser to 1 will move forward, -1 will move backward.
   
7. Regulator controls the speed.
   
8. Use Independent Brake to stop.
   
9. Set air dumper to 0 will put out the fire in the firebox.

1240形はかつて日本国有鉄道の前身である鉄道省に在籍したタンク式蒸気機関車である。
元は新宮鉄道が1919年（大正8年）にアメリカのボールドウィン・ロコモティブ・ワークスで1両を製造した、2気筒単式で飽和式の小型機関車で、1934年（昭和9年）に新宮鉄道が国有化されたのにともない、鉄道省籍となった。車軸配置は0-6-0(C)、メーカーにおける種別呼称は6-18D。
国有化後は、使用されることなく放置され、本形式への改番も書類の上のみで、現車への標記もなされないまま、1936年（昭和11年）に廃車解体となった。

現在は明治村で9号機関車として動態保存されている。

1. 火室に石炭を入れます。
   
2. Ignitorボタンを押して着火。
   
3. ボイラーの水が沸くまで待機。Injectorで給水量を調整します。
   
4. 圧力が12kg/cm2(ゲーム内単位で9)以上になると安全弁が作動します。
   
5. Injectorでボイラー内に注水します。
   
6. Reverserを1にすると前進、-1にすると後退します。
   
7. Regulatorで速度を制御します。
   
8. Independent Brakeでブレーキをかけます。
   
9. Air damperを0にすれば火室の火を消せます。
