Milwaukee Road Super Dome

The MILW Super Domes were the first full-length dome cars in service. They were built by Pullman-Standard in 1952, and 10 were made. They are also some of the heaviest passenger cars ever built, at 224,000 lbs. They operated on MILW passenger lines such as the Olympian Hiawatha and Twin Cities Hiawatha. 6 of the dome cars were sold to Canadian National in 1964, and the remaining 4 were purchased by Amtrak in 1971, which were later sold again in the late 70s. The cars changed hands many times after and can still be seen today, such as on the Napa Valley Wine Train or being pulled behind the restored MILW 261 steam engine.

This version is based on a mix of #53, a restored and modernized Super Dome, and original photographs and videos.

The Super Domes were build with Head End Power generators that supply power to the car for AC, lighting, etc.

-Open the hatch on the rear left side of the car
-Turn on the Car Battery and Cooling switches
-Open the fuel valve and pump the priming pump 3-4 times
-Start the engine
-Turn on the breaker labelled "Isolation Start/Run"
-Turn on the Generator Field switch
