WC1M2 Wombat

The WC1M2 Wombat is a tankette of the Khertland army primarily to equip the airborne regiments. Its cheap design has also prompted its employment to reserve units as it could be produced en masse. Due to its primary purpose of equipping airborne units, it is design to be small and lightweight so it could be parachuted from the back of a plane. Indeed it features a built in parachute system for this explicit purpose.

In order to keep its weight light and size small, the vehicle is manned by a crew of two; the driver, and commander/gunner. The gun is a lightweight 35mm low pressure autocannon. The low pressure allow for lower recoiling, thinner barrel, and simpler breech for a lighter weapon system. The weapon system was envisioned as a blend of a automatic grenade launcher and autocannon. As such the projectile is compatible with 35mm HEAT grenades. The penetration afforded by the use of HEAT projectiles helps mitigate the low velocity gun which makes APDS unfeasible.
To further lower the weight and complexity of the design, the weapon is mounted on a sponson with a limited arc. This also allow it to be easier to manufacture to equip a large mobilized army rapidly. The weapon is aimed with a stabilized independent sight with full 360 degree rotation.

To better serve reserve units, the track system is designed to be removable. The roadwheels can be driven without the tracks, albeit to work with the track system, it turns via differential/skid steering. This allow the vehicle to reduce wear and tear on the track system and extend its marching distance without requiring a flatbed rail or truck transport. The ability to drive on wheels also allow inexperienced conscripts to quickly learn how to drive the vehicle by providing some familiarity with that of civilian cars. Even its size is comparable to that of a pickup truck or a van.
For reserve units, the tankette provide potent anti-infantry capabilities in the form of a automatic grenade launcher/autocannon. It is a capability that the Rosetta is less capable of due to its large recoilless rifle and thus significantly less rate of fire for this purpose. The Rosetta also exposes the commander when loading. The tankette is expected to provide light armored support for dismounted infantry. Its simplicity, small size and light weight also greatly simplifies infantry-armor cooperation, particularly limiting fratricide associated with operating near heavy vehicles. It also can be used like a mobile machinegun nest making it significantly more intuitive for a infantry-centric mindset that would be common among conscripts whom only received basic infantry qualifications and none in mechanized infantry.
