Canna Car Ferry

Description

Canna Car Ferry

Canna is a really simple 2 lane car ferry made for transport between some of the lesser developed islands in the Stormworks world. Built to carry smaller cars, the inner cabin also houses seating for 15 passengers.

The build itself is based on the old Rathlin Island ferry in terms of looks. Overall it is a really simple to use boat that gets the job done, nothing about it is meant to be special or stand out.

The vehicles loaded, with an exception of the tractor, are from: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/id/Tigrrer/myworkshopfiles/?appid=573090

Operating Notes

Going to keep this rather simple.
  • Canna should not be in operation over winds of 50% when unloaded. If loaded, the vehicle should be fine under winds of 70%.
  • The rear deck doors have a lock that can be enabled through a switch in the main bridge. Large waves may flood the rear deck, meaning that in high winds this lock should be enabled to prevent overboard passengers or lower cabin flooding.
  • When the ship is unloaded, being above half throttle may cause the ship to wheelie. This is a known stability issue but should be preventable if kept under half.
  • While spawning users may get a warning message stating that this build contains a large amount of monitors. This is due to the fact that small 1x1 huds are used as props throughout the build, these will not impact your performance.
  • This ship is has a total of 4 anchors, one for each corner. After pressing the drop anchor button, the anchor will automatically stop once the mag has connected to something. Use these to your advantage when docking as it helps greatly to keep the vessel in place.

  • The autopilot is single way-point based.
  • Enter a way-point to activate the autopilot. It will simply steer towards this point on the map, so be aware if there are any obstacles in the way.
  • To disable the autopilot, either clear both numbers on the keypad or enter two identical numbers. The way-point is activated when the A and B inputs are different.

Author Note
Stormworks is a game for me to relax in and build for the fun of it. Due to this, published creations may not be updated over time as other projects spring up. Rude or idiotic comments, plus questions that can simply be answered through a google search, will be removed. Details about any fixes or version changes will always be written out in the Change Notes tab of the creation's publish page.

@conwhitgaming If you look at the top of the workshop as of today, we have a wide variety of creations from submarines, dodge challenger replicas, tanks, a missile, and a few ships. This is a sandbox game lol, not everybody is playing for career mode so thats kindve an invalid question. It doesnt have much use for RP either, *just happened to be a ship I felt like building and works well for what it was built to transport*.

When it comes to the truck, its most likely just your build being too heavy. This was made and tested using a specific user's vehicles. Normal trucks in SW are quite heavy, especially tankers due to the high fluid weights. The boat simply isnt made to handle that type of stress.

amazing boat in looks, (sorry but) it does simply not work well in service. Really (unless your on a RP server), when will you need to use tiny cars in your career mode? (a single small tanker truck flipped it) IDK if i'm just using it wrong... Anyways love the boats look but in career it doesnt help much, still good for RP use tho.

@DReam_Egg

Please disable inf electricity when playing to avoid this. Inf electricity causes the onboard alarms to go off.

i dont know if it has something to do with some addons if it is a but i get 2 alarms (tsunami + one more) that i cant turn off when i use this ship spesificly. I would realy like to have this boat work, because it is so charming

If its an entirely new boat then id be fine with its upload, though if its only an edit then id rather say no

Its a more modernized one, but i've added text to the side, moved the nameplate, added some stuff to make it more realistic and accurate to the real M/V canna, aswell as the fact im planning on adding a little dinghy as a lifeboat, and i've also added a small TV, aswell as some rust to the paintwork and some slight modifications (such as power outlets)

@unbreakify Depends on what it is, I normally dont allow edits n such to be uploaded

I made a little mod over the course of about ~2 days, i was wondering if i could upload it, with credits and a link to this, of course. I'm still working on it so i don't expect to release it immediately. (That is if you approve of me uploading it!)

@unbreakify Ive seen that a while ago, though its not really one im interested in. Currently have two other boats in the works. One is a mix of several designs meant for offshore wind turbine crews, while the other is a medium sized research vessel.

I know another scottish vessel you can make, the M/V Glenachulish! Also known as the 'Last manually operated turntable ferry'. its very cool.
