Description
Who said efficiency can't be beautiful?




When we here at MTL started working on Tehnica we wanted to build an extremely efficient, highly reliable platform to build upon.

Powertrain

The first step to great efficiency is a good powertrain. So we started with a beautiful 12 cylinder radial engine and, for extra power at the low end we added a small electric motor, turning Tehnica into a plug-in hybrid .



This powertrain has allowed our engineers to get some insane range and efficiency numbers. Under ideal conditions (flat ground, no wind) Tehnica can do 28-32L/100KM which, with its 1038L tank means that it has over 3500KM of range without sacrificing speed. WIth a top speed of 175Km/h you will get wherever you need in a jiffy.

Of course 3500KM of range standalone is ridiculous but this fuel tank offers the possibility to fuel up a friend (if you have any) or run a generator to power an entire construction site.

Fueling and Powering Up

Behind both the passenger and driver side doors you will find a hose anchor and a cable anchor. On the side with the cable anchor there also is a button labelled Charging Mode , that button connects the main car battery and the electric motor battery (they normally are separate due to cameras being sensitive to power spikes) so they can both be charged. Without that button active ONLY the main car battery will be charged!



TehincaConnect
It can be this, it can be that, it can be everything!


TehnicaConnect is a small standard that all Tehnica pickup trucks have. Its main purpose is to give the owner of the truck the possibility to turn it into anything he needs. The TehincaConnect slot can be fitted with things such as firefighting modules, portable generators, and (if this truck gets any sort of popularity) more coming soon! Let me show you how it works.

Every TehnicaConnect attachment has a hard point connector on it.

This needs to be lined up with the TehnicaConnect slot on the car and snap!, its connected

It doesn't turn on by default when spawned though, so you roll unless you immediately turn it on

The spacebar key IS the handbrake just that it also atomatically turns on the hazzards. Prob forgot to label it

Great truck, but there doesn't appear to be a parking brake apart from the hazards, which are also not marked

Ive just got the electric motor hooked up to a separate bank of 6 batteries that are only for the motor. I didnt include a way to charge them using the engine as it wasnt really necessary when the motor is used together with the engine because the motor shuts off above 100 km/h so you just need to charge the motor battery every so often.

how do you deal with the power draw?

The hybrid system is actually quite simple. It just uses a small microcontroller that i made that, whenever the throttle is pressed, the car is going below 100km/h and the electric mode is on, it will pass the throttle through to a electric motor. This can either be used in combination with the diesel engine to compensate for its very weak acceleration (bc of heavy gearing and 3.1 RPS), or with the engine off if you want to go full electric. It can easily do a couple of kilometres fully electric.
