Clutch Fix

Description
Clutch Improvements mod

This mod is based in "Engine Idle Torque 'Fix'" mod for ATS, but applied to all engines (and no sound changes). It simply increases all engines' torque in low RPM to allow more realistic clutch interaction like holding on ramps and start moving without the need to smash the gas pedal in low gears / lightly loaded.

Clutch deadzone-range should be reduced in options for additional realism (smaller actuation/"bite" interval in the pedal).

The process to generate this mod is automated by a console app (.NET 9) that is hosted at https://github.com/avengerx/SCSClutchFixer.

Version bumped to 1.2.0 due to new code needed for the tool to generate the mod.

Generated for game version: 1.55.1
Truck engines fixed: 172
Generation Date: 2025-07-01 04:07:34 PM

I wish I could somehow model better the clutch dynamics. The stock trucks torque curve is actually right, the problem is how it drops RPM once the clutch bites the gearbox. The game does not emulate the actual "torque exchange" as the pads contacts. This works very well for automatic transmissions that have consistent and quick "bite" time, or the game compensates in some other (hardcoded?) form, while using an actual clutch there's no means to do the power transfer as the clutch is released. :(

OK!
Wow I am behind! I'm missing the T680 and didn't even know it.
Thank you!

I'm working on a mod for all vanilla trucks engines to do the same. So far I got the transformer on a 9 axle lowboy with a 500 CAT to take off on a steep on ramp. Total weight is 178,875.
And you cannot dump the clutch in gear to take off at any weight. Even in LL bobtail will kill the engine if you do. Total power output remains the same too.
I have the 500 done to move that max weight. Now I gonna grind numbers and test each range up from there to do a little more weight for each.
550 to do it with about 210,000
600 240,000 which seems to be the heaviest of all the vanilla freight.
625 will do it a little better. It is "king of the hill after all".
This is a lot of work.

If it says incompatible, it most likely means you didn't install all free truck DLCs to the game. Perhaps I may remove the truck DLC dependency as it is not likely to break the game if the DLCs are missing. There will just be engine references that will never be used in the game.

Its been a while since I have played. I remember really liking this mod.
It is however coming up as incompatible.
Thank you for the effort you put into this!

Its function is for those who have an analog clutch pedal. This mod only makes sense if you're playing with manual transmission gearboxes. XBox pad and sequential transmission are not really meant for what this mod does (or the other way around). :)

Is its function for those who use a steering wheel and gearbox? It's that I play with xbox control and sequential, and it comes with mod sounds.

You may need to check files or enable a possibly disabled DLC. All required DLC are the free/included truck DLCs from the base game.

this mod claims im missing DLC - Kenworth t680 2022 but i have all dlcs except the different art dlcs and says it incompatible for this reason

This mod only works with SCS engines.

This mod only works with SCS engines, or does it work with mod engines too like ZeeMods etc.?
