Better fishing

Description
Information
Current version: 2.3.0
This mod aims to make fishing a greater and overall faster experience for the player.

The mod is still in development, meaning that some features may change in the future and not all content is completly integrated.
You can contribute with your own ideas or suggestions at the mod's github: https://github.com/TheAnsuz/terraria-better-fishing/issues

Features
Multilure
There is a complex multilure system that allows for each rod to throw lures depending on some conditions.
Due to how this system was approached before I decided to add a configuration so you can revert the system to the older implementation.

To give a description of what does each implementation:
  • SIMPLE There are no conditions or complexity for the multilure system, each rod has its own amount of lures to throw.
  • NORMAL The amount of lures for each rod can depend on complex conditions, such as biome, height, health, mana etc...
  • DISABLED If you dont like the multilure feature, you can disable it completly.

Angler shop
Now you can earn special coins by completing angler quests. The amount of coins depends on the difficulty of the fish to get.

The angler shop will sell every item that the angler can reward you from completing quests. However there are some requirements on what items
can be sold at a certain point of the game, these requirements can be configured.
  • DISABLED The angler shop is completly disabled if you dont like it
  • SIMPLE Every item will be sold from the start (excepting those that require hardmode or other vanilla requirement)
  • PROGRESSIVE Items will be sold according to the amount of quests that the user completed
  • CONDITIONAL Items will be sold depending on requirements such as Angler happiness or time of day
  • COMPLEX A combination of both PROGRESSIVE and CONDITIONAL, so you need to complete quests and buy at a certain hour for example

Easy quests
This feature allows you to modify how often the next Angler quest will happen, it can be changed to any value so you can have a new quest ready every 10 minutes
of gameplay or every week. It's at your choice!

Even if you leave the time as it is in vanilla (1 ingame day) this feature also announces when is the quest ready to those who care about it. Fancy, isn't it?

There is also an option to only allow to change the quest once a percent of players have already completed the existing quest.
Pro tip if you set the percent to 100 and quest time to 1 minute, the quest will be renewed once all the players completed it, not wait times involved!

More features on future releases
If you have any suggestion or idea of any feature that could look cool for the mod, let me know in the comment section ;)
Or if you prefer, you can send your contributions to the github page https://github.com/TheAnsuz/terraria-better-fishing/issues

Compatibility
Althrough working, Fargo mutants mod adds a multilure system wich is NOT compatible with this one (you can disable it in the mod config).

  • Calamity compatible

Oh yeah I do exactly that, setting the quest time to 0 and setting player requirement to max. But I wasn't exactly talking about that since I already saw you saying we can do that from the mod description. What I want is that + quest changing after a day automatically (so you get another quest right after giving the fish, but also getting a new quest in a certain time), because like I said, sometimes there are quests I can't do but in order to get a new quest, I must go in settings and change options just to change that quest I can't do, then go back to old settings again, which is not that much of a big deal but gets annoying sometimes.

Tbh mod is already quite good for me besides that little thing so if this doesn't gets added I won't even care about it lol

@Enocan611 By setting the quest change time to 0 and the required minimum players to the max, it will change once you deliver the fish

How do I make it so when I deliver the fish I get a new quest but also quest changes naturally in the time I choose because there is some quests I get but can't do in early game

Had to disable as it kept hiding the HUD

Great mod, but had to disable it sadly. There's an infinite loop bug somewhere in the code when you complete Angler's quest. After I delivered him the fairy fish that is caught in surface hallow he offered me to catch it again, infinitely. Yes, the chat was spammed with the messages the whole time. Restarting the game didn't fix that.

Can you make it so the angler does not reward coins if the shop is disabled? not that big of an issue, its extra money, but its also something worth considering fixing.

I would personally also like a bait and potions only option for the shop, maybe like have a new slider that goes from, default -> bait only -> potions only -> bait and potions only.
its not very important, just a suggestion that i and im sure others will appreciate.

anyway, i like this mod a lot, i only really use it to reduce the timer but it is a godsend, thanks for making and maintaining it.

I will check both issues and work to fix them! I will also try to add another way to contact me since this steam comments are not really that good for feedback.
