Resident Evil 4 Remake 100% Achievement Guide

Missable achievements: Yes
Minimum number of playthroughs: 3 technically but expect 4-7 runs
Co-op / Online Achievements: 0
Difficulty required for 100%: Yes
Time to 100%: 40 to 80 hours

Notes:
This is a completely handwritten guide. Any item / collectable you need can be found by using CTRL + F and entering what you're looking for in the text box.

Except for story achievements, every other achievement is missable. Some are very difficult to miss but they are all still missable.

Before starting, I've outlined what you need to do during each run to get all achievements to 100% in just 3-4 runs.

Run 1:
Play on Assisted to get all combat, chapter specific, and treasure related achievements. You will also get familiar with the game during this run. You can play on a higher difficulty to start but it won't be necessary. Make sure to follow the "All Collectables in Order of Appearance" sections below. You are also allowed to choose any difficulty you want when starting NG+.

Run 2:
Start a fresh save Professional run. Go for the S+ rank (sub 5.5 hours and 15 saves max) and complete the game without using NG+ weapons. You'll only have the primal knife at this point so just don't use it. You can sell it for 25k ptas though. This will unlock the Handcannon, Chicago Sweeper, and cat ears accessory (unlimited ammo for all weapons). This also awards 6 achievements for beating the game on Standard, S+ Standard, Hardcore, S+ Hardcore, Professional, and for doing a sub 8 hour run.

Run 3:
Start a NG+ save on Assisted. Equip the cat ears and Handcannon. You will be going for completing the game without healing and without using the Merchant. You could choose to not use the Handcannon and only use pistol and knives. Stacking all 3 of these achievements is quite difficult though. Also focus on any achievements you might have missed.

This is how to get all achievements in only 3 runs. Realistically, you probably want to do a Hardcore S+ run after your first to get the armor for Ashley and chicken helm to reduce damage taken. You also might want to split the no Merchant, no healing, and pistol only achievements into 2 runs.

When going for S+ ranks where time is important, dying or loading a checkpoint will not reset your in game timer. So if you die or need to load, you must quit the game and load up the save from the main menu. You are allowed to use NG+ weapons during S+ runs.

Capcom might sell all Extra Content Shop items as DLC in the future. This would give you access to the cat ears and unlimited ammo from the start. They did this for Village so it's possible it'll happen for this game too. If you want, you can download mods on Nexus Mods to unlock some of these features without having to pay. You can also purchase Exclusive Upgrade Tickets to help with your Professional run.
Story Achievements
Harpoon Hurler Defeat Del Lago Story related, cannot be missed.

Grilled Big Cheese Defeat Bitores Méndez Story related, cannot be missed.

Wave Goodbye, Right Hand Defeat the Verdugo Can be missed if you take the elevator away from the boss in the sewers of the castle.

No Thanks, Bro! Defeat Ramón Salazar Story related, cannot be missed.

You Used to Be a Good Guy Defeat Jack Krauser Story related, cannot be missed.

You’re Small Time! Defeat Osmund Saddler Story related, cannot be missed.
Combat / Upgrade Achievements
Knife Basics Parry an enemy with the knife Use the knife to deflect an enemy attack.

My Preferred Place Upgrade a weapon At the Merchant, use Ptas to upgrade a weapon.

A Masterpiece Get the exclusive upgrade for a weapon You'll unlock the option to buy an exclusive upgrade for a weapon after fully upgrading it. Alternatively, after making it to the Castle, you'll be able to purchase an Exclusive Upgrade Ticket for 30 Spinels. This give you access to the exclusive upgrade regardless of upgrades.

Gun Fanatic Obtain all weapons Most weapons can be purchased or traded from the Merchant. Some will be unlocked during NG+ runs for completing unique feats. All are listed below in the "All Collectables in Order of Appearance" section of this guide. Weapons must enter your inventory for them to count. So withdraw NG+ weapons from your storage to your inventory when you get them. Also, you do not need to own them all at the same time.

Shield Your Eyes Defeat 3 enemies at once with a Flash Grenade You need to shoot enemies in the head and have the parasite emerge from their neck. This can be a bit random but can be forced when fighting the suits of armor as they always have a parasite. You can also get this by flashing a group of crows.

Overkill Use a cannon to defeat a zealot After making it to the castle and raising the cannon, use it to kill one zealot.

Never Heard It Coming Defeat a Garrador using only Knives A Garrador is the blind armored enemy you fight in chapter 7. You have to kill it completely using only knives. Just sneak up behind him and stab him in the back. Should take 2-3 knives depending on difficulty.

Hope You Like Thrill Rides! Make it through both minecart sections in the underground tunnel without taking damage This might just take a few attempts. If you take damage, just load a previous checkpoint.

Capacity Compliance Reach the top of the clock tower without the lift stopping once You get this by quickly defeating enemies as they hop on the lift. Too many enemies on the lift will stop it.

You Talk Too Much! Throw a grenade into Ramón Salazar’s mouth During this boss fight, throw a grenade into Ramón Salazar’s mouth.

Two Bugs, One Stone Kill 2 parasites inside a Regenerator with a single bullet After obtaining the Biosensor scope, equip it to a sniper rifle. Then circle around the room and look at one of the regenerators in a pod. Shoot it in the chest and the achievement will unlock.

Smooth Escape Escape on the water scooter without taking any damage At the end of the game, complete the water scooter section without taking damage.

Talk About Near-Death Experience! Rescue Ashley as she’s being carried away by the enemy An enemy will attempt to pick Ashley up and carry her away if they get too close. When this happens, shoot the enemy in the leg and they will drop her.

Collectables in Order of Appearance P1
Here is a list of all the items you need for the 100%. You can purchase treasure maps from the Merchant to show treasures on your in game map. I made some notes for treasure checks so you don't forget to collect them before moving on. I have also included chapter specific achievements so you can go for them as you play.

Labels are as follows:
W = Weapon
CC = Clockwork Castellans
MR = Merchant Request
A = Chapter specific achievement

U = Weapon part (not needed for any achievement)

Also, I did not include items unlocked or purchased from the Merchant. You can get them at any time. This is for missable items you need to worry about.

There are 3 loot based weapons: hand grenades, heavy grenades, and flash grenades. You'll easily get these as you play.

Run Specific Achievements

Promising Agent Complete the main story on Standard mode or higher Complete the game on Standard or higher. Stacks with other difficulties.

Mission Accomplished S+! Complete the main story on Standard mode with an S+ rank Complete the game on Standard in under 5 hours to get an S+ rank.

Proficient Agent Complete the main story on Hardcore mode or higher Complete the game on Hardcore or higher. Stacks with other difficulties.

S+ Rank Investigator Complete the main story on Hardcore mode with an S+ rank Complete the game on Hardcore in under 5.5 hours to get an S+ rank. Does not stack with Standard S+.

Peerless Agent Complete the main story on Professional mode Complete the game on Professional. Stacks with other difficulties. If going for S+ rank, you need a sub 5.5 hour run while using 15 saves or less. This is optional but will reward you with the cat ears which gives unlimited ammo for all weapons. Limited saves plus the time limit makes getting an S+ on Professional very difficult. The armor for Ashley and the chicken helm to reduce damage are almost a must. Without these, I finished my S+ run in 5 hours 27 minutes. Below I've listed where I used saves for my S+ run. It probably isn't 100% optimal but it will act as a guide for you. Try and bank as many saves for later as possible. Save 1 - C3: This is where a good run starts. Your first save should be before the Fish Farm. You want to be here in about 30-40 minutes. Take 5 minutes to get some coins from the shooting gallery. Save and try some combinations for weapon charms. Each combination gives a specific charm determined when you start the game. The Striker charm is the best for the movement speed. After Del Lago, get the golden egg to use during the Salazar boss. He is allergic to eggs and it will do about 70% of his health in damage. Save 2 - C4: Before El Gigante (ogre boss). You don't want a few bad kicks to send you back to Del Lago plus having to get the church emblem again. Save 3 - C5: Just after making it back to the farm. Just sprint through it to save ammo and time. The cabin is also a very difficult section so a save here is valuable. Try be here in about 1 hour 20 minutes. Save 4 - C6: Before the Mendez boss fight. This is to spare you from having to redo the cabin and chainsaw sisters if you die. Save 5 - C7: Before Water Hall as a lot of progress will have been made up until this point. Equip a shotgun and try to rush through it as best you can. Enemies will stop following you after lowering the 2nd staircase and going up them. You want to be done with this area around 2 hours. Save 6 - C9: Before the maze because of the amount of progress you will have made. We now have 2 saves banked. Save 7 - C9: Use a banked save before the Ashley section just in case you get 1-hit during it. You can bank this save if you have the armor for Ashley to protect you from damage. You get the armor for getting an A rank on Hardcore (beat the game in under 10 hours). Save 8 - C10: After the Ashley section because the next 2 rooms are toxic. You want to be below the 3 hour mark when you get here. The following rooms are probably the hardest in the game. The first room is filled with about 20 Novistadors (bugs) which are almost impossible to run though. It's then followed by 2 Graardors (blind claw guys) and INFINITELY spawning adds. Save 9 - C10: Before Verdugo (boss in the sewers you have to freeze). You don't want to have to redo the previous rooms. Don't fight the boss, just lead it around the room with stuff in the center until the elevator arrives. Save 10 - C11: Start of the chapter and just rush to the dynamite. Save 11 - C11: After the 2nd minecart section before fighting Krauser. You want to be around 3.5 hours here. Save 12 - C12: Before the Salazar boss battle. Save 13 - C14: After reuniting with Ashley. Save 14 - C14: Before the final fight with Krauser. You MUST be around 4.5 hours or less. Save 15 - C15: Your final save should be at the start of this chapter. You don't have to worry about the final boss. Just sell a weapon to get a rocket launcher.

Sprinter Complete the main story within 8 hours You'll get this while going for S+ ranks.

Frugalist Complete the main story without using a recovery item Play on Assisted NG+. The auto healing makes this easy.

Silent Stranger Complete the main story without talking to the Merchant once Complete the game without speaking to the Merchant.

Minimalist Complete the main story using only Knives and Handguns [Including specific battles] You can use any handgun. Exceptions are: Explosive barrels, the shooting range, harpoons during Del Lago boss, cannon kills in the Castle, automatic sentry gun kills, wrecking ball kills, and the Red Rocket Launcher. You CANNOT use grenades or eggs. This makes the achievement for completing all Merchant requests impossible during this run!
Misc Achievements
Nice One, Stranger! Complete a request for the Merchant The Merchant has requests you can complete throughout the game for rewards. Complete 1 of them for this achievement.

Jack of All Trades Complete all requests from the Merchant The Merchant has 19 requests you can complete throughout the game for rewards. Complete all of them for this achievement. All are listed above in the "All Collectables in Order of Appearance" section of this guide. You can finish any you missed in NG+ or on separate runs.

Max this out before upgrading other weapons. - Pick up as many treasures as you can. - Dying or loading a checkpoint will not reset your in game timer. So if you die or need to load, you must quit the game and load the save from the main menu. Your saves should be: Save 1 - Before the fight with Pesanta in the village. Be here around 00:20. Make sure to grab the sniper rifle during C1. Save 2 - Before the factory with 2 chainsaw enemies. Be here around 00:30. Do not fight them, throw a flash or grenade at the chainsaw woman and start turning the valve. After the steam is gone, run through the door. Save 3 - Before the El Gigante fight. Be here around 00:42. You want to be done with the boss fight by around 00:50. Save 4 - Before or after the drill in the castle. I opened all the gates before taking the lantern and then saved. Be here around 00:58. While at the maze, you want to take the staircase to your left. Shoot the red zealot a few time with your sniper rifle and he'll move. Run the the center of the maze and use your grappling hook to jump up to where he moved to. Mow him down with a clip of TMP ammo and clean up the rest of the mobs. Save 5 - At the start of C5. Be here around 1:15. Grab the crown on the opposite side of the 2nd switch so you can sell it for 100k Ptas. Also grab the bio sensor scope next to the valve in the waterway. Save 7 - In the mines next to the Merchant. Be here around 1:45. Save 8 - At the start of C6. Be here around 1:55. Run past all enemies in the wrecking ball area and all regenerators in the following area. Save 9 - After the gondola and before the battlefront. Be here around 2:05. Save 10 - Before the Saddler boss. Be here around 2:15. Buy a rocket launcher for him. You're golden if you make it here with 10 minutes or so to spare.

I HATE separate ways so much. the original was sh*t and this is worse. hate how i have to buy and play a dlc i have no interest for whatsoever yet i'd feel all my efforts of trying to 100% this game would have gone to waste if i didnt. currently just need to beat it on S+ pro

The key in chapter two under Collectables in Order of Appearance P1 is misleading in its stated location. When you drop down into the shack after getting the hexagon emblem, the key isn't in that room. It is in the tiny room to the east in a small brown jewelry box to your left on a shelf.

I gave it a try, I managed to get the "Minimalist" achievement. Like with "Frugalist" and "Silent Stranger", it is best to play the main game in Assisted difficulty. For the "Minimalist", have 3 different handguns:

1) Punisher works against shield foes.

2) Matilda with stock attached for plaga, wolves, and Novistadors.

3) Have the stock attached to the Red9 - it is fun to use in the Luis tag levels in Chapter 5 and Chapter 11. Use the biosensor scope to locate the Regenerator that have the wrench before let it loose with the knife, draw it away out of the incubation lab in the utilities area then hit it hard with the Red9. Besides, use the Red9 on the unarmored El Gigante, Bitores Mendez, Ramon Salazar, Jack Krauser, and the first phase of Osmund Saddler final battle.

To play safe, quickly get behind a stunned regular foe before finishing him/her off by stabbing in the throat. When fighting Krauser, do not hesitate to kick.

You can still do it mikenghm, you just need to spam handgun shots from something like the Matilda with the stock on until you hit each parasite. Additionally, I think it does not count as "using" a different weapon as long as you don't shoot with it, so you can still check the parasites with the biosensor scope without losing the achievement.

I am having doubts of the "Minimalist" achievement; the major one is in Chapter 13. One of the Regenerators have the wrench for the second machine: the optimal way of killing a Regenerator is to use a rifle with the Biosensor Scope attached.
