Description
Aburne

Tier I - Transport

The Aburne class was once a military science vessel - now refitted to be a light cargo freighter.

Originally built for scientific exploration and observation, the Aburne was once a cutting-edge sub of the Coalition fleet. As the environment on Europa grew more hostile and the Navy found itself far more occupied keeping the peace, these ships were unable to perform their purpose. Now replaced by the far more capable and modern Northumberland class - many Aburnes have been stripped of their equipment and decommissioned, most left to rust or be recycled.

Fate would have them become another forgotten model only mentioned in archives - if it weren't for the ever-hungry supply chain. After radical redesign and an ambitious retrofit program, many surviving and seaworthy vessels were granted a second chance at life. Remade as a light freighter, it is now an odd but capable vessel for its role.

Every running Aburne is part of the original production, no new ships of this model are manufactured. As ships are inevitably lost to either the depths or malfunction, the Aburnes grow ever fewer in number. Many of those still running are often a mishmash of parts salvaged from others of their make. Regulated to the bargain bin for inexperienced crews - it seems likely that its second life is going to be its last.

Sub has a fun design, just wanted to point out that some of the hatch waypoints seem off. Such as leaving the rear ballast and entering the front airlock area. Otherwise love it

Thank you for the outstanding review on Aburne, I immensely appreciate it.

Firstly I am aware of that annoying problem around the engine and I am trying to fix that. It is very much a persisting problem that I want to see fixed.

As to the nature of the ship, you are right - its similar in many aspects to the Barsuk and is meant to capture a more experienced level of play. Ideally you'd use this ship to grind transport missions then trade it in for a Camel in much the same way you'd trade a Dugong for a Orca.

As to the price point, while I would certainly like to see it priced around 6000 marks, alas the game will not let me price it so.

(PART 1): So there seems to be a section of the ship the Bot's cant repair(Next to/below the engine) This causes them to run back and forth near it indefinitely, or atleast untill I come over and Repair The troublesome spot. Besides that Ive been loving the ship. It's a real Death Trap! So many design flaws!
The 2 funnest being 1) the Jaint atrium that floods in seconds because a outside hatch links directly too it. This effectively, cut's the ship in half, Causes it to immediately start sinking and is a play ground for Mud raptors and Crawlers.
The 2nd being it's hilariously bad ballast system(Bad By it's own right) but more yet, see's the ship bob up and down violently when it's idle xD

(PART 2): It's perfect! That 20 crate capacity and nice View(of your impending demise) perfectly balances out All it's downsides.
I'd recommend only doing cargo missions with it, Anything else is going to have a field day with you. My only suggestion would be to lower the price for it a Bit. It's a death trap to such an extent that It's not good for anything but cargo, And even then it is a real pain trying to keep it alive. The lower cost would premote using it as a starter money making ship, As your gona need more money to Keep it afloat with Alo't of crew. And to get enough money to periodically switch to a other tier 1 sub when doing anything that's not cargo hauling.

interesting! i was wondering if it was just me lol, good to know its not. it actually feels quite cool to shut down the reactor when docked at a station so it adds another unintentional little feature of semi-realism. can be pretty alarming when i forget, however, boarding the station to see it completely up in flames lmao

That is a most curious problem that I admit to encountering myself. To be honest I don't really know how to fix it, nor do I know what exactly causes it.

At best I advise using the reactor shutoff at the captain's terminal or the reactor itself. If I found out the source of this bug or gain any knowledge on how to fix it I will see to it.

I love your Northumberland and this design so much. quick question though, is it by design that this ship overloads station power supplies and causes damages unless the reactor is turned off while docking? i also use better stations and dynamic europa if one of those could be the culprit, but i havent done much testing with it. this is my new favorite starter sub to pick up, great work!

Great work, really enjoying my solo run with this sub.
